JDM EVO iv

I am looking into getting a 96 evo iv imported. What I want to know is that would it be easy to get parts for the JDM? Do USDM parts fit JDM and others general thoughts about importing an evo (good and bad thoughts) I would also like to know if there are any common problems in evo's, are they reliable? Thanks in advance, I appreciate anyone that will try to help me out!

Welcome!

I'm going to move your post to Evo General which will give you greater exposure to members who might be able to answer your questions. Good luck!

where are you actually located? the evo is reliable so long as you keep up with normal maintenance. also, a good tune will do you well.

Try to get an Evo 5/6 instead of the 4. It will be a few grand more at auction, but its worth it. If you are just looking for a cheap awd car to drive in the snow, just buy a Subaru locally. You will end up spending $ fixing an evo.

What is better about the 5/6 over the evo 4? I didn't really want a sube because it would be heard to work on the engine (spark plugs, etc.)

The 5/6 have brembo brakes and the engine is built better internally. I think the six has a bigger intercooler and a few other things as well, not 100% sure. I've owned an evo 4 for a year now and I had it as a fun car but my daily broke so I've been dd'ing it the last three months and I haven't had any issues come up except a rock in the wind shield. Rocky Mountain Imports found me a new one though and it should be here any day now. On my 4 the only mods I have are a mishimoto radiator, an oil catch can, a 3" straight pipe, and a CAI and I have had zero reliability problems, just remember to get your diff fluids changed, not just your oil.

There were a lot of changes from IV to V/VI. Here is a good overview http://www.lancerregister.com/art_evobuyersguide.php
