For track days I just slide my seat back a touch, then used my hand to snap my shoulder belt forward and engage the inertia lock. Then I slide my seat forward into my regular driving position. It takes a bit of practice to get right, but when done correctly it will really clamp you into the seat.

How did you get the cg lock to stay on the seat belt clip? I received these about a month ago and I followed the installation instructions, but I couldn't get it to attach as specified. The instructions said that once the cg lock was tightened down on the seat belt clip it should take a great deal of pressure to pull them off. These would pull off with hardly any effort.

It took a few tries to get it to lock down on the clip right. But once it grabbed. I just tightened it down as much as i could. Grabs nice and tight now.
I will say, it was a pain. I think they should have made the teeth clip section on the CG-Lock a bit larger to accomodate a larger seatbelt clip. Or maybe shipped it with two different sizes. But overall it seems to work pretty good.

How do you tighten up the CG lock while on course? While racing you're frequently pulling straps to tighten things down as things looosen up as you move around in the car?

just got back from VIR.
The CG-Lock worked great!!!
no, once you pull it tight once... you dont have to worry about re-tensioning the strap. It will stay put.
My instructor was pretty impressed with it too.

The video footage is ok... I screwed up a bunch of times.
one time i forgot to turn on the camera
one time the batteries died
one time the tape ran out
one time i ran out of gas ( hahaha im a dumba$$) (no not completely out of gas)
so basically i only got half of the footage that i wanted.
I have 3 or 4 sessions with the camera "forward"
And 1 session with the camera facing backwards.
Probably sometime this week I'll throw it up on the web.

The funny thing is it's much more fun, much safer, cheaper than a ticket, last for longer than most folks can, and yet it takes nearly an act of God to get people to go.. And of course once they go, you usually can't beat them away with a stick..

Congrats!

definitely lasts a long time. I did 8 (24 minute) sessions over 2 days. Plus a few ride alongs with instructors. and 2 parade laps,
I was mentally and physically wore out.
Was worth every penny not having to worry about cops
Plus you learn so much. And you finally get to use the car the way it was meant to be used.

Most PCA chapters and almost all BMW CCA chapters specifically disallow use of these types of restraint systems in their driving schools. The rule is: use stock belts unless you have at least a 4-point roll-bar and 5-point harnesses.

Most everyone I run with and those they race with highly encourage a harness as the first thing to do to any car going on the track for safety reasons.
No race sanctioning body will allow 4-point harnesses of any sort, let alone the 2" non-camlock models most commonly available. They require 5-point minimum and shoulder harnesses need to be 3" (lap and anti-sub belts can be 2"). Also, you need quick release. And, of course, race sanctioning bodies require cages.

Open mouth, insert foot.. I think I must have been under the influence of the "crud" drugs I've been on for the past two weeks. I should have recalled the changes many sanctions have been doing for safety like not allowing harness bars, and even seats not designed for harnesses and the forces they create. I still am in favor of harnesses for control. I need to get more familiar with what the PCA and BMWCCA regs are sitting at these days..
