Need help!!

This is a long story which I will shorten up as much as possible. Here are the important details:

On 8-11-15 I passed emissions in Wisconsin. On 9-8-15 I got a letter saying that there was a discrepancy in my emissions results and I need to bring it in for an inspections. 2 DOT inspectors came to the inspection. End result, they told me that I didn't have factory software in the car and needed to get it back to factory. So I went to mitsubishi and had them re-flash to factory rom. Took it in again for inspection and they still say that I don't have factory software. They say that my ecu is reading "4BAAA803" as the software number. I need to have software number "88590015".

Question is that has anyone EVER heard of this 4BAAA803 software number or this number in general?!? I cannot find anything anywhere.

Car is built and tuned by Ams. I took a bunch of parts off and replaced them with stock stuff for these inspections. I still have 1050's, fp green, ic piping, intake, fuel pump, and gsc s2. I will be putting in stock injectors on Monday or Tuesdays. Found a stock ecu from someone on here and will be putting that in when it arrives then reflash from mitsubishi again.

Will I have more issues if I put the stock injectors in and different ecu with stock rom?

Any help or insight would help..

maybe that number is a hash of the stock rom? That would be the only way to really verify if the rom has been modified quickly, that i know of anyway.

88590015 I'm pretty sure is a ROM that tephra uses for V7. If you had EvuFlash you could very easily change the EcuID to trick them...

They claim that I am running "cheater software" to pass emissions. Honestly I cannot confirm that since I am not a tuner by any means. More pressing is what in the hell is 8BAAA803...

Get a receipt showing it was flashed to stock rom and slap DOT with it... Let us know what happens? I never heard of that rom.

Way ahead of you. The car was actually due for a factory recall on the ecu. They reflashed due to the recall and I showed the inspectors the invoice. They then told me that mitsubishi is lying or don't know what they are doing.. Next call was to a lawyer. He told me to sell that car and buy a new one. I have more than 45k invested into the car including the car price... The analogy "stuck between a rock and a hard place" does not even apply.

Not all lawyers are good. Just like inspection places. I'd say use the reflash trickery or find out who is in charge of the inspections in your state. Btw what state r u in?

This is unbelievable to me. Have you reached out to AMS/other tuners. The emissions inspectors here in WA are kinda clueless or just think my car is cool; never heard of something like this outside of CA. Do you have to go back to this specific inspection station in WI?

How on Earth do they say Mitsu is lying?! This is crap. Time for another beer...

sounds like the devil is in the details here. They sent 2 inspectors? Sounds like you have become a special case for these guys. Did you enable any of the forced pass stuff for emissions testing? If so what tests did you put for Pass and which as N/A?

I blame VW, actually. They cheated on their diesel emissions now everyone is hyper sensitive to possible ECU tricks from manufacturers.

"The first rule of Fight Club is: You do not talk about Fight Club. The second rule of Fight Club is: You do not talk about Fight Club."

Don't air it out here. Go talk to your tuner or PM an expert.

I'm close to milwaukee wi.

There are only 2 places I can take it for this inspection.

I didn't set anything to force pass. When they clear the codes in the car, they read ready right away. It say that they should read not ready..

Ams said they cannot help. My local tuner is baffled. We are still trying to figure out what 8baaa803 is.

This pretty much confirms for me that you are running the forced pass patch. Your situation is going to be pretty toxic for any shop so you might need to fix this yourself. Head over to the ecuflash sub and get your reading cap on.

88590015 is a patch on disabling the rear o2 sensor. I can't imagine they would tell you that you NEED to have that.

I'd contact a tuner on these boards vs a local tuner. Try English Racing, they do some tunes over the interwebz. You're going to need an Tactrix OpenPort to do this though.

I would suggest this as well.
