I get shocked really bad every time I get out of the Evo. But only when I am stepping on the ground. If I am still sitting in the car and touch anything metal, I am fine. As soon as both feet are on the ground and I touch the car, OUCH!

Just make sure to touch something metal before you touch the gas cap.

I usually grab the metal part of the steering wheel as I climb out of the seat, that prevents static from being charged... but then again i dont always remember to do that...

That lady made it worse by sitting down in the seat while the gas is still pumping, she probably got all "charged" up again.

Then the gas vapor near the nozzle is very concentrated from the freshly topped off tank...

thats why they say using cell phone while pumping gas is a bad idea...

They have grounding straps you install under your car to dissipate any charge the chassis has built up going through the air. Even in F1 they have springy strips in the pit box that ground the chassis when it's lifted in the air to prevent discharge.

That female should have taken off that sweater she was creating all that static energy with and put out the fire with it topless!

Shock

I am so used to it that I always put my forearm on the top of my door when I exit. It's a better shock than when it goes through my fingers!

Touch the door frame or roof before you put your feet out and keep touching until both feet are on the ground... never a shock then.

I get shocked nearly every time I get out. Has any body tried that antistatic spray for clothes on their Recaros?
I know there is some antistatic treatment for cloth that the electronics assembly industry uses, maybe that would work on the seats.
