I had been chasing a strong raw steering feel and cornering ability. Grip and power with stability. I started with a C5 Z06, turn in was magnificent and the available torque at almost any rpm made the experience that much better. However, with all that torque I found it difficult to really get power down on street tires. So approaching the limit of what I felt safe on the street, relatively early, the Z06 only left me wanting more. I then got into Nissan S chassis' for about 6 years. Swapped every kind of engine. SR20, LSX, RB25,26 and yes even RB30. Even after all of that and every bushing changed to spherical ended aftermarket pieces... I was still chasing grip.

I drove my friends '04 STi and fell in love with the AWD layout. I wasn't thrilled about the boxer layout in the engine bay. My friend went through a different car about every 6 months because he was never satisfied either. He purchased a few things between his STi and the Evo. He picked up an Evo 8 RS almost a year later and I didn't think anything of it, because in my mind it was just another awd 4 cyl turbo car. That is until he kept it past the 6 months mark, and he started modding it more than just bolt ons. I started my search for my Evo and less than 6 months I found my IX MR. It's hands down the best and coolest car I have owned. My wife told me she would divorce me if I tried to sell it haha.

Im another person who made the switch from the honda world. So glad I did. While ive owned and been in many zippy hondas, they just dont compare to the performance of an evo.

Wish I made the switch sooner, I wouldnt have wasted so much money along the way hahah

After having a built '13 STI sedan with ALL handling mods/sub-frame supports, it still handled like a noodle compared to my X. Decision made. Back to another X.

started with a e30, then went thru an s13, to fc3s, ae86, back into another e30 then e39 and now evo 9 MR. I still have my first car, the e30, and the e39 which was my dd but im driving the evo more and more. Might get rid of the e39, but never the e30. Can't forget your first love

Really surprised nobody else came from early 4G63's, at least none that have posted here yet. I had DSM's, GVR-4's, Mirage's, Mighty Max, etc, before I finally got with the times

Came from S-chassis, drove a S13 Silvia and then upgraded to a S15 Silvia.
Those cars were scary in the wet, rear end would always kick out when turning.
Figured drift life wasn't for me and upgraded to an Evo 8 2 months ago, these cars are amazing.
Touge is life.

I've been itching for a boosted AWD daily after moving over to the V8 world for a few years...

I love the blobeye 04-05 STi look and the boxer rumble and 2.5L off-boost torque is nice. I had an RSTi, Impreza coupe with 05 USDM STi powertrain. Thing was super fun but chassis was made of noodles. Boxer rumble sounds great though. I have driven all gen STis including the hatch and the steering feel / ratio is just meh...the 2015+ is much better but I can't justify the price given the motor is basically the same as an 04, which sounds great with a catback but lacks the top end ferocity of the Evo's factory snail

I had an Evo 9 and X, both with bolt-ons and tune. Loved the 9, didn't care for the X despite its more neutral handling since it was much heavier and thirstier at the gas pump

I think ultimately I will end up with an 8 or 8 RS or 8 MR...debating whether that 6th gear is really needed now that I haven't had a 5spd car for 5 years. I know 4th gear likes to break in the MR IIRC, plus MRs command a much higher entry price. A bolt-on E85 Evo 8 would be sick as a daily / canyon carver. Fast spool, frantic steering, decent top end pull...

One thing I never liked about my Evos is the exhaust note though...just sounded like a typical 4 cyl car Maybe this time around I'll get a cut out for when I want to have fun, and have stock muffler on the street...hmm...any decent non-drony catback suggestions for a CTA Evo?

Also since it's been a while, I've read that Evos with higher mileage trannys like to grind gears? Any truth to this? Is it a simple fix like fluid swap, or are the syncros prone to going out?

Dammit.

I came from a Mirage -> S2K -> IS300 -> B5 S4 -> S2K -> Evo IX. My IX is by far the best and I have no regrets selling my S2K.
