Needless to say, I cant wait for the EVO. But I am curious to what the ad campaign that is going to use to promote it. My idea:

Picture: A fog. Some flashes of light. A voice booms, "4 WRC drivers titles" (barley recognizible clips of previous EVOs sliding/jumping start flashing), "276 horsepower" (hopefully , more clips flash) "And vicious AWD" (New clips of the VIII doing some hard driving), "Mitsubishi is proud to present" (The EVO 8 flashes onscreen), "The Lancer Evolution VIII." A montage of the EVO doing hard driving follows for a few seconds. Then the screen goes black, the symbol is outlined, but with flames slowly growing behind it.

All it needs is a slogan.

Thoughts? Opinions?

 

sounds like a theatrical commercial to me..that would make me scared of the beast ..then we can have that guy that speaks for the scary movies..hah..very dramatic

 

I just pray its not the car going around in circles with that damn Barenakedladies song playing in the backround. ZING!

I want that angry guy who does the radio ads to do the voice on the commercial. he can be reading a grocery list and it sounds funny.

1st slogan attempt: "Evolution... When simply getting there isn't enough."

2nd attempt : "Driving... Evolved."

eh, I guess i'll keep my day job..


Back onto the ad, they keep saying that it will feature another small time band.. i think its a european band, but not sure.

I think its a great idea, especially with a new popular (or soon to be) song, b/c then whenever you hear it on the radio, club, bar, mtv, etc. your mind automatically thinks back to the car... who here doesnt relate "days go by" with the eclipse, or vice versa??
or the lancer with the bareneked ladies song..
every time you hear the song after seeing commercial, its like free advertising for .

I preferred the volkswagon music commercials, but their songs werent popular enough to be heard often on their own

its annoying, yes, b/c it gets in your head, but thats precisely why it works so well

 

God, I just wish Mitsu'd get the people who do the Nissan commercials... Chemical Brothers, BT... great stuff. I second that call for the radio guy... he's actually on Crank Yankers alot.

Oh, and I hate mitsu for doing that DAMN BARENAKED LADIES song... shows obvious bias towards the Eclipse... two songs made into hits... we get an annoying has been song.

I say dirty vegas comes out with a song and have the car run over that girl in the pink that pop-locks/dances in the eclipse commercial.

 

 

How about this for thought...the commercial begins with a Porsche boxster on a mountain path twisting and carving the roads until it comes right behind an 18 wheeler. the driver is portrayed to be real cocky and arrogant...also rude as he is yelling at the trucker to speed it up as he is blaring his horn. Right then out of no where a Thunder Grey Evo 8 does a fly by swooshing past both the Porsche and the Trucker with plenty of time to get in front before on coming traffic (ok to pass bc of dotted lines). Music of the exhaust fades leaving us back to the annoying driver blaring his horns again. Visual ends. Words come up on screen...Porsche...there is a substitute...performance without sacrifice of price. Come join the Revvv-olution this Winter. Mitsubishi Evolution 8.
