I don't smell anything on either of my evos when I dump. The air velocity traveling under the car pushes those fumes out

just gotta have the hvac to rec...but ok ok back on topic lol...isn't a drop to 22 psi too low? I understand the engine is more efficient and flows better now but I'm still trying to understand how it'll make more power even though it had such a drastic drop in boost...doesn't make sense to me...if I tighten up the wastegate arm would it help to hold better?

Go get the car retuned. Don't just add preload to the wastegate to turn up the boost. You're changing things that effect fueling and could effect the amount timing the car can take.

makes sense but my tuner says this is normal and doesn't need a retune...I deleted the pcv with the catch can setup and I'm waiting on an egr block off plate...I guess when I install it I'll do a boost leak test and try to get him to retune...you know something though? I think I haven't been doing boost leak test correctly...I made a tester but I just put air in it, cover it with my finger, and listen for leaks...I've been seeing videos of how with a gauge people pump in air in stages until they reach the amount they're boosting...I just pump air in without knowing how much I'm putting in...

What happened is you used to boost spike up to 29 psi instead of the 28 psi you were tuned for, so now, with a divided dump like the muse, there is no exhaust backpressure preventing the wastegate from opening at the right time with alot of effort. so it just slams open and dumps the excess boost, thats why you get that mod before you get your car tuned, i would reinstall your old one or just get a reflash from your tuner.

OK but like I said before...can the tuner do something to make it hold better with less taper? What can I do to hold a bit more boost? Car sounds great with o2 dump and all but it feels slower now...there's gotta be something that can be done...

yes what he will need to do is increase your wastegate duty cycle little by little at each given RPM scale untill it holds the boost like you want it to do. its pretty straight forward, he also might need to mess with the fueling a little but i doubt he would if you're going to have it back on the same boost level, my advice would be to just wait and do more mods and when you're done get a retune, that way you dont waste your money and do it twice.

these are all good suggestions...I've learned a bit with this thread and thank you all for being patient and explaining...didn't know you could control wg duty cycle with stock ecu...I will install the egr block off plate and figure out the correct way to do a boost leak test and talk to my tuner...

the retune will require more fueling if you want to make the same amount of boost as before

Increasing IDC, which riches the AFR's. You likely won't get boost back to where it was. But it should make a bit more power regardless.
