ECU advice?

I have a conundrum, my car I bought has a Ecutek setup, locked. So if I want to mod it, I need to take it to a approved tuner and of course get ripped a thousand bucks or so on the Dyno etc. every time.

You can now get a Pro Ecu Ecutek kit so that you can do remote e tunes. So 500 bucks for the kit and probably 300 bucks for the tune. Another rip all up.

So lets blow the ECU away and go with a factory ECU, another 1000 plus bucks before you even tune it remotely or Tephra it.

Ok how about a Haltek Plat or AEM Infinity 6 or another.....these are great you can do the E85 tango and plug and play but we are talking 1500 bucks plus here in Aus.

So seriously guys if I tell my misses that I need 1500 smackers for a black box, I'll be in the dog box for a year, so I need some advice from the masters of EvoM here, on the best way to go to really start having fun with my Evo without having to mortgage my house before I even buy the fun parts ie. cams, beehives, injectors, fp red etc

By the way I wish I could crack that Ecutek and get into it myself but every search comes up negative in that field.

So can you all collectively put your amazing intelligent minds together and give this grass hopper some guidance so I may see the light

AFAIK ecutek CAN be unlocked...

if your question is: "do i need an aftermarket ecu?" you do need to think
about what your future setup will be...

since you are in aus , motec is a very good option also

Michael.

You can get an eclipse ecu and flash the v7 ROM is the cheaper way to go.
