My car was ticking just after a cam install as you explained and the lifters were properly bled prior to install. My ticking/tapping sound ended up being a broken PCV. Take off the vac line to the PCV and plug it with a screwdriver and see if the ticking stops. Mine sounded exactly as you described it and was driving me NUTS!

I'm going to look into the pcv deal today when I get to work. I bled them good till no oil was in them and let them sit for a day or two then I installed then properly. If still continues I'm going to do a leak down and compression. Even though I'm almost sure it's lifter tick.
still have the ticking. should i change the itm i put in to gsc zero tick lifters? or what do you guys think? im guessing my car is not supplying enough oil pressure to that last lifter.

Has anyone found the proble answer? I'm not trying to thread jack but I'm having the same issue too and it's coming from cylinder one. It's not loud like a lifter, it's quiet like a misfire. But car still runs like a champ. I have tbe, Injen upper and lower icp, and ebc. I believe everything else is stock but car idles like it has cams.
if you think its lack of oil pressure, run more oil. i use 6 qts of amsoil dominator series. really spending oil changes especially when i do them every 2k but worth it. my car has 20k miles on the build and use the gsc no tick lifters. love how quiet the engine is
Thanks for the info but I don't think it's oil. I check it regularly and it's all good. The random tick or tapping always comes from cylinder 1. It almost sounds like a misfire. I've swapped coils and replaced plugs and it still does the same thing. Sometimes it will throw a cel for a misfire at cylinder 1 but I erase it and drive it and then it doesn't throw the code anymore. (This happens from time to time) I'm new to the evo scene and searched almost every thread and it seems like no ones found the solution to this problem yet. Did their engines blow? Did they resolve these issues? Or did they just sell the car?
