Sometimes it will throw a cel for a misfire at cylinder 1 but I erase it and drive it and then it doesn't throw the code anymore. (This happens from time to time) I'm new to the evo scene and searched almost every thread and it seems like no ones found the solution to this problem yet. Did their engines blow? Did they resolve these issues? Or did they just sell the car?
I took my Cobb heat shield off and the ticking got slight quieter I'm hoping that's it or maybe it's just me. I am hoping I have an exhaust leak. But I do get random misfire but the car drives awesome and I get the misfire only when I'm stuck in traffic or on idle for a long time. I have heard something about switching the mr to 5 speed makes it go off. Any ways back on topic check your exhaust leaks, other than that I should be checking it today and see it's truly that. Anybody else have an idea ?

Thanks for the reply DanielM. Lmk if you find your noise. I love the car and love to get on it once a day so I don't want it to blow bec of a misfire.

Voila ! Dam ticking is driving me crazy. Sorry I have yet to check if it's really the exhaust manifold. I've been riding my gsxr lately. off topic but weirdest thing happen to me yesterday. I had my random misfire code p0300 just disappear on its own. No more check engine lol. In pretty sure I'll get it again soon though. Any thoughts appreciated

I checked everything that I could possibly check. So far no dice. Still makes that tick at random times. Doesn't throw a code or run rough. It sounds like a spark plug or spark plug wire arcing. I can't believe that one one has fixed this issue. Do they just ignore it and sell the car?

How do you fit 6qts into your car?

Car ticks during the winter. It never ticks during the warmer seasons.

That ticking is not normal. Try this, remove the coil boot from one cylinder and start the car, see if it goes away. I had a ticket on my car, I found out my rod bearing was just starting to go. My noise didn't happen at idle like your noise is currently making, I had to do quick throttle snaps to create the noise at idle. The worst thing about noises are, you don't always know where they are coming from because with metal noises travel to very odd locations.

Anyhow, I saved my crank and engine. I bought the car like this sadly, and now I have the engine rebuilt.
