I think they did mess up things with the STI by trying to add the .5L. Did anyone stop to think that with the same 2.0L enigine, the N.A. STI could've avoided all of these detonation problems and blown motors?

maybe if t he STi didnt have a crappy ECU , wasnt drive by wire, and had a GOOD functional intercooler thier .5l of more displacement would be 0wning us.

generally more displacement = more torque...especially low end torque. Which would result in less turbo lag.

Yes, thus the STI has more low end tourqe, but what good is it when you don't want to drive it due to detonation.

BUT I'm wondering if they eventually fixed it on STI's before shipping them. We purchased the STI in October, and haven't had any detonation that I know of(knock on wood).

A magazine said it, it has to be true

That's what I was hearing about them too. I am a strong believer in the "if it aint broke DONT FIX IT !" philosophy as well. I bet if they left it alone it would have still sold the same amount of vehicles

Yea, they wouldn't have sold too many more of them, but they also wouldn't have had everyone pissed that their brand new car is having detonation.

I think so too. They would be stupid not to. Was the R&T article on the MR the cover story?

They did bring the Ralliart Lancer after all. Seems natural.

I also wonder if is smart enough to browse these forums for feedback.

Yeah, that last poat was kinda ghey..sorry LOL!! No but seriously I have to be just like all the other ****** out there who know, and can only say "well, I can't confirm or deny it"...I didn't get my info from a magazine I promise you.

Oh, and what the hell is up with people talking about dealerships not being able to sell any EVO's? I don't know about how the car is performing in other states, but here in SoCal most dealerships are selling at least 8 a month...2 per week isn't bad at all. Don't worry guys Mitsu will sell all of them and the EVO line will perpetuate!

Haha I wasn't flaming you. Just saw an opportunity for a joke.

Someone said next year each dealership will be sent only like 2 EVO's over a certain period of time.

Back to the original question about the Petition....if is bringing the MR here then they already have the entire car mapped out. So starting a petition won't change anything. Cars are designed and planned out a long time before they are announced to the public. If ya don't like what they offer, buy something else.

Personally, I'll stick to my 03...I don't want nor need 6 gears or more computers interefering with my driving experience.

Does the design of the engine has something to do with its performance? Y'know how the Evolution is an inline 4 and the STi is a boxer type.
