Drivers side HID went out. New bulb didnt fix the issue.

So my bulb went out. I replaced it since I naturally assumed the bulb was bad. Changed it with one bulb then another but still no luck. I even swapped the passenger side bulb over to the drivers side to make triple sure, but it still didn't work. The only thing that happens is that the bulb rapidly and dimly flashes 3-4 times as soon as I turn on the headlights, but after that it stays off. Could it be the hid ballast? How do I check if it's functioning properly? Any help is appreciated, can't really drive at night now.

Edit: so turned out to be the oem ballast that was the issue, the ground wasn't secured properly (looks like it's been changed already). Thanks for all the help!

Ballast, I'd test power to it first though to make sure there is not a short somewhere.

Mine did the same but I couldn't buy the bulb alone I had to buy a set of balasts and bulbs, comes in a kit, so I just replaced the balast and bulb, all this rubbish is made in china too, you can find them on eBay

HID bulbs almost never go bad, its the ballast. If this is an aftermarket kit, make sure your ground connections are clean as can be, or think about getting a capacitor kit.

You can pop the ballast out of the other side and test quickly to make absolutely sure that is the issue...

This is what i did to make sure it was a ballast issue. Got one off of ebay and has been working for years.

I think i paid around $100 for my new ballast? its pretty easy to replace, just take off the front bumper, unblolt the light and the ballast is on the bottom and is held in by a few screws.

Also check for corrosion in the relay if you haven't already.
It's most likely the ballast as only one side is faulty, but I would check the whole system (bulbs to fuse) first before just going out and purchasing a ballast.

You have to pull the bumper and the headlights plus wire anything up. 2 hours labor is a pretty good deal, but that's expensive labor
