I use works but twm performance and b&m also make short shifters.

no real viable option for the MR 6 speeds as far as I know. I heard a while back you could get it done at the Works shop itself but that they did not do mail out kits. Idk what you have, may not pertain.

Works ones seem pretty good, not much cutting/modifications needed.

I just upgraded my 5spd from the stock shift lever to a Works short shift lever. I liked the feel, but it actually shortened the height of the knob a bit more than I wanted, so I went out and got a taller knob. Now the knob sits a bit higher than stock, but the shift throw is pretty short because of the Works shift lever. For the record I also have billet bushings on the shift tower and it's purty darn notchy. Good luck!

I use the B&M adjustable, adjusted to the shortest throw. Also have Buschur base and cable bushings. I bought the shifter used from a vendor on here, probably can't find them new anymore.

I have a Perrin short shifter that I took out of a previous Evo I owned: Perrin typically makes really nice products.
Shoot me a PM if you are interested, I just remembered I had it in garage for ages.

see that's what I'm afraid of...the notchiness...I don't mind the cutting and stuff...I'm pretty good with that stuff...works looks like a complete kit but a bit expensive compared to others...I haven't found much on the perrin shifters...all of the old threads seem to be about works, twm, and torque solution...

I had this on a previous evo 8 and I would say for the price and the quality you can not beat it.
