Post it. I'm sure someone out there would host it for you.

but to say that the EVO is "A better base" is just not a very well thought out statement.

You *do* realize what Claudius drives an Evo6.5. I would be willing to bet big money a stock Evo6.5 will destroy your Wrx, on the strip, track, gymkana it doesn't matter.

According to the May2002 issue of Automobile, the Euro spec Evo VII was the clear winner their head to head comparo against the WRX STi.

Here are some quotes: " In power and performance, the Evo VII has a relatively clear advantage.....Consider as well that the Evo is almost 200 pounds lighter than the STi, and it becomes clear why the longer and wider Mitsu leaves the Subaru standing when the light turns green..." "In the course of a two-hour highway stint at triple-digit speeds, it became obvious that the Evo VII was in a class of it's own. When we got to the twisties, the STi tried gamely to strike back, but it didn't get very far, at least not on bone-dry pavement..."

That article was written by the George Karcher who also writes for British CAR magazine where they are known for not pulling any punches as far as their car reviews.

Well, you guys shouldn't magazine race so much. It is a "Best Motoring" Video.

I also have another video of a reviewer in Britian that says that the STi is better.

You guys are not open minded enough. And to anyone who wants to take my WRX out on the track...bring it on. My WRX is sure to be in the low 12's (A tuned 20PSI beast).

You guys have too much of a one sided, know it all attitude on here. Sheesh-

I'd like to see this video. In all the Best Motoring race vids I have seen, only a few I will admit, the Subaru's always start at the front and quickly find their way to the back.

Is the video in question the latest Best Motoring volume? Vol.5 Impreza vs Lancer - The Final Battle?

On the preview I noticed the in the six car race the Evo7rs quickly came from the back after only a couple of turns.

Has anyone seen this video yet?

As far as Mag Racing goes, I do enjoy reading magazines but I prefer to get my info from current Evo owners. I also like watching vids of Scoobies getting their butts kicked on the track

BADWRX, have you driven an Evo? You shouldn't talk about things you have no idea about.

BADWRX - With all due respect, I think it is YOU who need to have an open mind.

First of all, EJ20 STi does NOT make 320 AWHP. I assume by that you meant WHEEL horsepower, right? Impossible. I'd say it realistically produces 290bhp at the crank, 300bhp at the most (100% stock).

Second, which Best Motoring version do you have? Name the month and year. I have a collection of BM videos (about 20 of them), and I have YET to see a stock Version 6 WRX spank a stock Evo.

I have no doubt that your car is fast. But to simply dismiss an Evo, especially if you have NOT driven it at all, is being ignorant and NOT OPEN MINDED.

I also know that Tiff Needle from BBC prefered the STi (oh boy, I've heard this video mentioned thousands of times by Subaru enthusiasts). But he did say "on first impressions", right? Furthermore, I believe he also said something like "...on wet surface, it's difficult to set the two apart..."

I don't know if he ever does a FULL review after that... but I can tell you the Japs already have. Only the STi Spec C comes close to Evo VII RS.

To say the STi is "better" is too shallow. Some people may think the STi is "better" because it IS a better all-rounder; comfortable for the roads, fast enough for the track. But if you ask a hardcore person which would he rather have as a "better" car: a comfy STi pocket rocket or a manic Evo lean mean track machine, I'd think he will choose the latter.

Currently your car's eating up all the others on the track, no doubt about it. But you have yet to encounter a fully mod Evo VII on the track.

3171 - did you go to Sepang last weekend?

Why is everybody hating. Lancer's and WRX's are both great cars. Depending on how the car is tuned it will be the faster one.

That is what I am saying! I was just "flustered" when somebody said the EVO was a better base.

Personally, I like the Lancer...just FYI!

I've seen a Top Gear video comparison of the EvoVII and STi. They chose the STi because they were so evenly matched it came down to personal preference.

3171 - Damn that means you also missed GarageR's monster Evo VII My RA's so far so good, but have yet to put the stupid oil cooler, hence no track days yet

Yup both are great cars, I agree... just be careful never ever to dismiss one or the other without having actually driven one.

Awesome video!!

The race is the Evo 7 RS vs. the STi Spec C. It was a closely fought battle. The Evo out braked the STi in the corners but the STi would open the gap in the straights. In the end the STi came out ahead. In the time trial though the Evo won by .5 or so seconds. The Best Motoring guys basically couldn't decide which was better. And by the way, the Evo 7 RS had the ACD and I think the AYC...

In a later segment, they test out a Mine's tuned Skyline GTR. It was simply a freakin BEAST!!! Very well composed with gobs of power. The guys loved it!

Not to bash, because I love the EVO, but you just have to realize that the WRX is one quick car. One rand a 10.73 at Famoso last weekend (That is a North American record BTW).
Well.. the WRX did have mods??.. Even though it is closer to stock
than a full-blown monster... it does have about 50 more crank hp
and suspension mods (if I remember correctly from the article).

I've a collection of 20 best motoring videos as well.... In all
of them, the EVO7 RS walks (well, more like run) away from the
STi.... In fact, the STi (or STi RA for that matter) always at the
last of the pack (well, unless they bring in car like IS200 or
ITRs...)

Though I haven't seen the STi RA Spec C video yet...
