New EVO Owner, Boost Issue & Cornering Judder

Hi guys,

Recently picked up an almost stock Red Evo V here in Australia and I'm loving it so far.
Been lurking a lot of Evo forums since before I got the car, EvoM has been my favourite so I've signed up.
I've got a couple of small issues:

1. Judder from rear left when taking medium-hard right hand turns, made worse if someone is sitting in the rear left seat.
Assumed it was related to suspension travel & the car is lowered a little with a Pedders setup (can still fit straight hand under wheel arches).
I found that an exhaust hanger bolt was hitting a control arm and had eaten into it a millimeter or 2.
Unfortunately shortening the bolt (and later removing that whole exhaust hanger thanks to a new muffler) didn't help, it may have reduced slightly but probably my imagination.
Can't see anything else and bolts, bushes, bearings, sway-bar(Whitelines put in by PO) all seem great.
Happens at any speed, 30kmh, 150kmh, doesn't matter (judder doesn't change speed either, which might be a clue).
Any ideas on this would be very helpful.

Pic of bolt with damage to lower control arm visible.

2. Bought an old 2.5" (3" after the resonators) Apexi turbo-back from a wrecked Evo for cheap.
The downpipe needs welding so I just sanded back and painted the Cat and everything down from that and installed it, leaving the downpipe for later.
Also bashed the Cat out as I've got a spare 2.5" high-flow cat that was on the original (otherwise stock) exhaust just in case.
It seems I have removed too much back-pressure as I am flying well into the mid-20 PSI range and (luckily) getting fuel cut on WOT at about 5500rpm.
Not surprising given the terrible bends in the stock pipes.
I am new to boosted engines so what are my options, apart from putting a real Cat back in to decrease flow?
Will an MBC (Hallman Pro etc.) let me reduce the boost from where it is now or (I assume) only increase?
Should I be looking at the wastegate?
I have some experience with ECU tuning and the like, could I just get a Tactrix cable, some software & raise the boost cut + fix the AFR table + timing (without a dyno).
Stock power is fine for this cars current duties so I don't mind eitherway.
Did a lot of pulls up to redline in 1st,2nd,3rd & 4th gear with 0 hickups on the stock exhaust.
Managed to chase and overtake an Evo 8 in the hills
Very happy with the performance.

Otherwise car is excellent, recon'd a Cusco front strut brace which looks fantastic (rear brace already there from PO).
There's 3 gauges under the headunit, and 3 in a dash pod that were disconnected from the battery on purchase.
Reconnected them and the Boost, Coolant Temp & Voltage gauges work, hence I know that over-boost is causing the fuel-cut.
Will need to tap the exhaust manifold for the exhaust temp sensor, going to put the Oil temp in the sump and use a stock tap near the filter for the Pressure.
Brakes squeak like a mother on light braking but I am working on that (DBA 5000 rotors + stock Brembos).

Sorry for the text wall, eager to get these issues sorted and back to pushing the car through the twisties.

Cheers,
Wolf

You have a lot going on in the post

Item 1. This judder or vibration youre feeling. Would be best just to jack up the front end, pull the wheels & give it a good inspection for anything visible. If nothing is found out of sorts, get the EVO to an alignment shop for a layout

Item 2. Probably should have this EVO tuned or see what the logs read out of the ECU. Most of us run full open exhausts w/no CAT & lack of back pressure is not an issue

Thanks for the reply.
I will be taking the Evo to the same racing tire place that aligns my other cars soon.
Just wanted to avoid getting 2 alignments done in case the judder doesn't get fixed during the first alignment.
Given it hasn't been easy to troubleshoot I think I'll just bite the bullet and have it done now.
I've spent a lot of time under the car and can't find anything :/
It's a pretty deep noise and feeling, definitely from back left wheel area.

Leaning towards getting an OpenPort 2.0 and logging it myself.
Being able to bleed the AYC and stuff would be great too.
I was very surprised that even with the stock downpipe I've managed to get boost creep so maybe something else is up.
Might put the proper Cat back on tonight and monitor the boost/see if it fuel cuts just so I know what difference the de-cat is making.
The boost gauge wasn't hooked up while running the stock exhaust so IDK how high it went beforehand.
Engine and drive-train are 100% stock. ECU should be untouched too.

Cheers
