Power steering delete?
Power steering delete?
Hey thinking of deleting my power steering, car makes over 700whp and prob going for 800! I'm NOT really going for the whole circuit course thing lol. It's a weekend warrior/ drag car. Car looks super stock, trying to do the whole low key weight saving now so wondering if anyone has done it, and is it an easy install!

Not sure about Evos, but a couple months ago I switched to manual steering on my Mazdaspeed6. I do road race the car and the very first day at the track was a *****. Then, something switched inside my head and the second weekend I managed to get within 2 seconds of my best time with power steering.
If you guys have adjustable caster, you will probably want to run as little as 3 to 3.5 degrees. I run 255 tires at the track and at some point want to switch to 275 but first need less caster, it is in the works (I am at about 4 degrees now).
I had the steering rack depowered Flyin' Miata style (google up instructions) and initially used a gutted stock p/s pump as an idler pulley, just shaft and bearing left inside and pump filled with engine oil. Then I realized a second gen Mazdaspeed3 switched to electric steering and I was able to use their idler on my speed6.
If you have an aftermarket steering wheel, make sure to LocTite the bolts, I had so much vibration through the steering column that it loosened all the bolts, clip below.
