plus the guy who paid 38 didnt give a crap he had money(this was before i was working there, only been here 4 months, im only 18, so dont think that I ripped him off or anything, he agreed to that price and paid cash on the spot)

BCMIND, how do you have such top end cars if you're a first time buyer? those are freaking crazy nice cars, I have the ///M3 myself
BTW I'm glad you got the price you wanted or whatever, if you came down i could have helped you out, i cant sell you a car over the phone, if you want me to take a hike, thats fine too...I'm just saying, try us out, and if you're not happy(I'm not happy) but thats fine, I can't say taht i didn't try
no offense, but whittier did quote me over the phone.. i don't even have to argue about it..

<--- other cars = family rides

first time buyer = car under my name

If I recall my numbers correctly, MSRP on the 03 Evo is $28987. Invoice is around $1800+ less than that so $27000. Add $750 for sunroof and $495 for carbon fiber spoiler options.

Invoice is a great price on any new car not considering the fact that this same dealer offered me the exact same car last Spring for $5000 over MSRP ($35,000). There's only one other game in town and I'm not sure if they have any Evo's left. Your other options are to drive 80 miles east or west to get one.

I'd say go for it. You may be able to squeeze a few hundred more off the price but in the end, especially if you are financing, it won't make much of a difference. Not to mention that you could be driving it next week versus waiting another month or two.

Infinity don't get me wrong because I have been a big supporter of you with your other posts, but how much do you expect under invoice? Will a couple hundred dollars break you?! Yeah yeah I know money saved is money earned but if you are ready to lay down that much loot a couple hundred is pocket change (yeah pocket change could be money towards mods) but think about it the more you wait the more you miss out on driving the dam thing (actually dam should be replaced with a positive adjective). Of course attempt to haggle below invoice but if you don't get anywhere take the deal or just wait for the nice cruising weather to go by and wait for 2004s.

Dealers do not buy the car for invoice. They lead you to believe that. Why do you think employees get a discount that after taxes and title and everything still comes out below invoice??? The dealership would not take a loss like that either

Invoice is a fair number to pay for the car. It lets them make a small profit and maybe pays the salesperson a tiny bit better than a mini deal. Contrary to urban legend, the dealer pays the invoice price for the car, however there is a small quarterly bonus that makes the small profit at invoice. If they do really well they may move up to a higher bonus level but that isn't guaranteed.

With an offer to sell you the car at invoice you are now at a level where if you take it you got a good deal. If you keep grinding on them you may save the price of a soda a day, so just pass up the soda machine once a day and enjoy your car.

A "Mini Deal" is if you sell the car for under the sticker price, for mini deals, I only earn $100 commission, I earn either SALARY or COMMISSION,whichever is higher by the end of the month. My Salary is $1500, if I sell 15 cars below the sticker price, I break even with my salary, now if I sill 16 mini deals, I only earned $1600 for selling freaking 16 cars...now you see what I'm up against? So if I sell at Invoice, i dont get a small profit, I get a mini deal.
I get 25% of the profit of every sale, so basically if I sell at sticker price, I'll only earn about 100 bucks

Just because the dealership has the invoice price doesn't mean that they are buying these cars at the invoice price. I'm sure Mitsubishi has realized that their targeted sales goal weren't met and they have slashed their prices to sell these cars much like what all the american car companies are doing. With that much said, u can get these cars for much lower than invoice price. I got my evo for $24.8k showroom with only 8miles on it. So tell those who are asking for invoice+$$ to stick it where the sun don't shine.

In May 2003 Santa Monica Mitsubishi was getting $15,000 OVER invoice, no joke. I paid $500 over last September. Being that its now 2004 the car has depreciated slightly in the Blue Book. Still invoice wouldnt be bad...........

I'm thinking I may go used. Already there are a few on Autotrader for 24.5k at the cheapest. I imagine when the 04 come out those will drop even more. Once I see one for 22, I think I will jump on it. Seeing the depreciation is making me do a double take on purchasing new. It appears the only vehicles that hold resale are BMWs and Integra Type-Rs hah.

Hi everyone. I've been trolling these forums since I got my evo last month. I saw this post and thought I'd post my findings. I've gotten lots of great information of these boards, so thanks everyone.
I really hate dealers but if you have enough information they can't play games with you.

Mitsubishi dealers (and all dealers for that matter) pay invoice for the car. That's why it's called invoice. However, after they sell the car, Mitsubishi factory pays them Floorplan Assistance (to help pay the loan costs the dealer paid to have the car on the lot) which is 2% of base sticker price (MSRP) and also Factory Holdback (a bonus for selling the car) which is another 2% of base sticker price.

Base MSRP is 28987. so 2% of that is $579.

Invoice prices:
Base: 26891
Destination Charge: 595
Spoiler: 522
Sunroof: 653
Total: 28661

So even if you pay invoice, the dealer still makes $1158 (579 x2) on the deal, which honestly is a fair profit for any business. Plus they also get bonuses for selling certain amounts of cars which would vary from dealer to dealer. If you use their financing, they make more off that too of course. I've also heard a rumor that they get something like $50 for running your credit which I believe is why most dealers make you fill out a credit app even if you bring cash.

True you could probably pay under invoice if you played the game enough with them, but I paid invoice for my evo and I don't regret it at all.
