Did you let it dry/set before you drove?

Maybe try a new torque wrench? I've never had flywheel bolts come loose in any of my cars. Those suckers are on there pretty tight. Should be even more solid with loctite. I can't imagine them backing out unless they aren't tightened all the way.

You would torque it to spec, no matter what setup you have. Mine are all 98 +/- 3 ft-lbs

You mean to tell me that a 2.3L doesnt get more torque then a 2.0L?!? What is this nonsense?

I figure if we are stating the obvious, for the op, I should also add that it doesnt matter if its an 8 or 9 as the torque will be the same.

well the oem bolts are non-reusable. They are meant to be replaced if removed. Thats not saying people dont get away with reusing them all the time, but if your having this problem then you might wanna consider it.

Crazy, I never knew that. Torque-to-yield? I've been reusing them for years. Oops. LOL

yah its a little known fact, and since so many people get away with reusing them there is hardly any reason for people to know it. The only indicator that they need to be replaced is a small symbol next to the bolt in the blow up image in the factory manual, at least that im aware of.

so not wanting to be the cause of any false information, i went looking through the manual to back up my claim. So far i haven't been able to find it. Ill update the thread as soon as I do, or don't, but for now i cannot say for certain that what i said before about the bolts being non-reusable is accurate.

Gotcha. Yeah, I've seen a lot of parts they recommend replacing. Like the clips that hold the shift cables to the bracket on the trans? Nah. Not changing those, either. LOL
FWIW I actually did replace mine on the fresh build because my old ones looked tired after a couple clutch swaps. No way was I gonna round one of those off. Could you imagine?

snapped or rounded bolts are the stuff nightmares are made of.

Well im ready to throw in the towel on trying to find proof they are not re-usable. I do recall being told be a pretty popular evo shop that they where not, and i thought i went and looked into it. Maybe im just thinking of a different engine (I know how dare I). I will say that its probably a good idea to replace these things while your at it, because yah an ounce of prevention....

Not that I can add anything valuable to this thread but I too recall reading that the flywheel bolts should be replaced vs reused. I didn't argue it or think much of it. Just picked up a new set slapped down $20 or whatever they cost and called it a day.
