"Warm" start issue after retune..

Quick info about the car... 06 Evo IX with 50k miles.. bolt ons / cams / stock turbo / dual map tune

I've been having this weird starting issue that only happens when the car is warm. Not hot, not cold.. Warm.

So a few months ago i had the car retuned. He retuned it on e85 and 93. Next day i noticed when I left for lunch break that the car wasn't firing up first thing like it normally did before. I had to give it a little gas and it finally fired up?

What could be causing that? If the car has sat overnight, it ALWAYS fires up first second no problem at all. If i drive it, stop real quick, come back out and its still "HOT", then it fires right up no problem as well. Only happens when the car has been driven and sits for a couple hours. (not completely cooled down but not hot anymore)

*The car will always end up starting, i just have to tap the gas pedal a little bit. It has never not cranked up though.

Tuner said he can't see anything that would be causing that.

Wanted to see if anyone has had similar issues

Looks like your start-up fuel tables need to be adjusted. See link below for explanation.

I'm pretty sure he looked over those.

Could failing fuel pump or injectors cause this?

Have you confirmed your tuner looked over those tables? If it's one thing I've learned about Evos is anything on the car has the possibility of causing weird issues. It may or may not be the fuel pump and/or injectors. However, I like going with the easiest and cheapest fix before trying the more expensive/time consuming one. With that said, it only takes a couple keystrokes to edit the tables versus finding a new pump/injectors and spending time to put those in. The reason why I'm leaning towards the startup tables is because your starting issue only occurs at a certain engine temperature.

Like he said just because he looked over them doesn't mean they are correct. My car would need multiple starts when hot and after adjusting the cranking table (can't remember actual name) it starts on a single crank cold or hot.

I had very similar issues with my Evo 8. After much trouble shooting it ended up being two leaking injectors. Sent them in to get repaired and never had a problem after that.

check start up tables. if your injectors was bad/leaking you would have hard starts regularly. the fuel maps change as the coolant temp cools down.
