02 sensor readiness monitor....

Hope this is the right section.

I cannot get this monitor to set. I've tried everything I can when it comes to driving and doing the cycles... I don't have access to any tools to have them auto pass just an fyi. Can a slow 02 sensor cause the monitor not to run and not trigger the CEL?

Guessing youre talking about your rear 02 sensor? Sorted asking the obvious question here but do you have a cat on the vehicle? Also have you confirmed that the sensor isnt junk? That should be an easy one to get to flip to ready; it's usually EGR that takes a few cycles to go to ready status

The scanner doesn't indicate which sensor, it's just says.. 02 sensor readiness monitor-Incomplete. I do not have a cat on the vehicle, didn't have this issue when I s****** it 2 years ago, but I know a bad sensor happens. through live date it showed the front o2 sensor voltage, and it still within specs(.1-.9) rear as well. I had reset all monitors yesterday and they all set except for the 02 sensor one

I'm having the same problem. Showing 0 volts from the rear O2. Front is fine. Would really like to avoid swapping a $400 sensor based on a hunch.

If you dont have a rear cat then that is why its not flipping to ready, lol. Im not well versed on how it is in CA but knowing they are the most strict #2 being MA and in MA that force pass doesnt work anymore your best bet is to borrow a buddies cat or go with a mechanical fix like drilling out a spark plug anti fouler. Ghetto but effective

Why would removing your cat alone affect its readiness? I swap my cat back on when I smog. My rear O2 is on my exhaust past the cat anyway. And it has an anti-fouler.

Well, if you have an anti fouler then that is a little strange. But the whole readiness tests is essentially testing to make sure all systems are functioning properly. So if the o2 sensor does not say ready status it means either your cat isnt functioning properly or the o2 sensor is bad.

Yea CA is super strict🙄, I also have the fouler installed, I'll slap on my buddies cat and see if that works, if not where's a good place to buy a rear o2 sensor?

Yeah if you put on a known working cat and it still wont flip after driving around for 50 miles or so then the sensor might me gone. As far as where to buy one, lol idk the dealership or maybe you can get away with one from Rockauto. The rear o2 really isnt important its not going to affect how your car drives. Just as long as it doesnt throw a p0420 and yours flips to ready then youre good to go!

MA sucks too. I need to get a new sticker on Monday. Luckily for me this is I think my 9th year now so I've got it down, but not without a few hickups along the way as the state smartened up. My days of force pass are over

I'm on my second attempt too because of this useless sensor.

OEM is $400. I think the $86 Denso is worth a shot. I don't need this thing to be accurate. Just need it to think it's ready. Lulz.
