I just acquired my latest VIII, it runs ok but once in a while accelerating from 3rd gear it briefly stumbles w/ no power then comes back on... never experience this in previous Evos.

Bad fuel pump, filter... injectors?

Could be numerous things. Log the car and post the log

 

Pull spark plugs, measure gap, note part number on spark plug, and report back. Sounds like its blowing out spark under boost. OEM evo coil packs are very weak. Coil-on-plug is preferred.

 

Found NGK Iridiums... replaced them w/ NGK copper tips... I left them at 0.30 gap... will drive tomorrow and report back! thx

 

0.30 of a gap is to small man I run ngk BPR8ES one step colder and I gap them right at 0.24 if I go to much over that I get spark plug blow out

 

It's been awhile... I'll gap them at 0.24 thx

 

Ive had to gap my plugs down to .20 on oem coil packs. Would recommend a COP kit.

 

BPR8ES at 0.24 gap seems to have fixed it!
