Guys, it's not even American-made.

It's Australian, based off of the Holden Monaro.

I think the Evo looks aggressive, the GTO looks slick IMO, especially with HSV treatment.

Never said the Evo was ugly, I just said the GTO looks better than the Evo.

Having said that, I still would choose an Evo over the Holden anyday

For 2005, they will add a sunroof as option, in 2006 RamAir IV or something like that. After enough modifications, they'll have a car on par with the 2002 TransAm WS-6 that they decided to DISCONTINUE due to lack of interest. GM is a marketing MONSTER that purposely sand bags every early model so they can tack something on next years' model and create a more desireable vehicle. It's just the same old GM crap though: overpriced, poor quality, electrical problems no one can fix, etc... you just can not buty a GM vehicle! They're simply evil. With the Evo, you get the absolute BEST car Mitsubishi can produce. If they can think of it, it's on the car. GTO = GrandPrix = Dodge Stratus R/T = Caviler. Has anyone else noticed the "re-invent" game GM plays? I'm done.
Right, and Mitsubishi would never hold back any model from the US market, we always get the best possible car Mitsubishi can produce. If you had a valid point to make it was lost in your ranting and BS drivel and blatantly incorrect statements.

There is no point in comparing the EVO to a GTO. Different types of cars, different demographics. I don't see how any EVO owner could bash the GTO on interior quality.

The EVO is a sports car version of an economy car. The GTO is a low end performancy luxury car.

I'm here to figure out what I want for my next daily driver. EVO is a possibility (GTO is not). But if this is the quality and objectiveness I can expect from this site then it isn't much help to me.

Anyone driving an EVO is in no position to judge the styling or quality of the GTO. The one thing these cars have in common is they both look like Pontiacs! About time that someone made a muscle car that didn't look like something a kid who still lives with his parents would drive.

A. What do YOU drive..(other than 18 "bi's)

B. Who are you to judge the people that judge others?

3. Are you envious of members of "The Lucky Sperm Club?" (kids with rich or well-to-do parents) The envy is in your sig and all over your post..

I'm messin with you here..but you know what I mean though??!

Guys, it's not even American-made.
Reminds me of a couple other Australian built cars that look pretty cool..(Lincoln LS..and wasn't the Diamante built there too??!!)

I saw a GTO at last weekend's autocross. Looked and sounded pretty nice to me. Much nicer interior and superior suspension to an f-body and it seemed to handle decently (about 2 seconds behind stock Evos and STis on a 65 second course when both cars were on OEM tires). As far as comparing to an Evo, the 4 door practicality of the Evo made me dismiss the soon-to-be-released 2-door GTO immediately last year when I was car shopping and considering both.

^BS flag raised. I can't picture a 3,800 pound car hanging with EVOs and STIs. It just doesn't compute. I saw a WS6 at the AutoX and I was less than impressed.

GM should have retired the GTO emblem as the new crop won't hold a candle to the late 60's and early 70's "goats". I had two of them with tri-power and that was back in the days when an ECU was called progressive linkage! One had a 3 speed and shfted from 2 to 3 at 100mph. Torque monster. You could not make a u-turn on a city street; talk about handling!

Ahhhh... those where the days when power to the rear wheels was king; not like Pontiac's little girly-man version of today.

Speedlimit...

Look at the results for yourself:

http://solo.wdcr-scca.org/results/2004/040328.html

The GTO is in F stock on its stock tires. The fastest A Stock STi's (the ones under 65 seconds) were on race tires. The Evo in ESP was on high dollar coilovers with Toyo race tires. I wouldn't say that the GTO was hanging with the STi's and Evo's but it wasn't laughably slow by any means considering that it's turning all that weight with 225 width all-season front street tires!

um... the monaro is a hot *** car! as for handling, I can't remember the name of the race in Austrailia, but it's a 24 hour race and 2 holden's got 1st and 2nd. The race included all sorts of cars, bwm's nissans(skylines AND 350z's) porches all sorts of ****. These cars can handle well when i guess you can say when they're tuned for that kind of racing. They got the umph to go and with the right mods they can handle well... atleast the monaro I don't know the weight difference between the two ;x gto and monaro ;x
