Pretty soon I will be looking to buy an evo 8/9, but I'm not sure what a reasonable budget for one is. I am looking for one with 60kish miles with no more than bolt ons. All of the evos for sale that I have seen are either fully built monsters that are far beyond my budget, shells, or unmodified super low mile collector cars.I have found a few ones on craigslist that fit what I'm looking for, but I'm pretty sure they're a scam. I'm sorry if this is in the wrong place, I'm new to the forum. The cars in the craigslist ads are kind of whats within my budget and what I'm looking for. Is 13k-15k reasonable for an 8/9?

Look around be patient.
Don't jump into one right away.
Wait for the perfect one.


Personally would never buy a evo from one of those lots on craigslist.

I get where he's coming from, almost seems to good to be true, under 60k miles for $16k...coming from a dealer, you know they would normally be selling for retail. Those prices seem like wholesale...

That dealer is a scam artist. Try calling the phone number or inquiring on their site. They want you to do a full credit app before even talking to them

Have a couple of grand standing by for issues that may crop up after purchase. Otherwise, inspection and test drive are a must to keep your potential costs down. Good luck!

Dont look at those sites, ebay or shop around. All of those are actual scams, they are on all city state ads. Saw them on Tampa, a friend ask me about them and after reading i told him was not real. So dont fall for it, dont send your data to them or your credit will suffer.

Those look really suspicious. They're too good to be true, anyone who knows anything about these cars wouldn't sell them for that cheap, especially not with mileage that low, which doesn't seem right, plus it would be a strange coincidence for one seller/company to have THREE Evos that are all in really good condition and with very similar mileage. Where are they finding them?

Also, the first link has the wrong pictures. The description and VIN are for a 2004 Evo VIII in silver. The pictures show a 2006 Evo IX in blue, unless the previous owner swapped EVERYTHING in from a IX -- headlights, taillights, wheels, steering wheel, interior and even engine valvecover. That's already suspicious.

Anyone who has these would be selling them for $5,000-$10,000 (depending on condition and how stock they really are)... no one in their right mind in the business of selling cars for money would let these go at that price, if they're legit. My Evo has around double the mileage, and I wouldn't let the car go for anywhere near what they're selling theirs for.

As was said above, those are scam ads. They advertise the same cars on different craigslist regions all over the country. They are always priced 5-10k below market value to get you to put in a credit app. If you go to their site the pages for those cars usually say something to the effect of "may not be available, call for current cars" or something like that.

All fake, stay away from them and do not give your information. A good place to look is on Facebook, I've seen more parts and cars being sold through there than CL now. Depending on where you are, I'm assuming Denver, CO, there might be evo pages specific to that region (if its a popular area for evos) otherwise theres a lot of CA evo pages.

I got my 8 for $15k had just under 80K stock motor, 1 owner. Took me a couple of months to find but I found it. Just have to be patient.

My best advice.. since I just did this myself.. is to be patient.. and scour all of Craigslist... cars.com... auto trader... ect.. you will find one that is perfect for you.. try to buy a 1-2 owner car and definately always get a car fax on whatever car your considering... you can find a great low mileage one for anywhere between 20-25.. maybe lower if you get lucky...
