What is your friend looking for?

General advice: shop around. be patient. Don't buy the first one.

He has been looking around for a while and been looking at this one specifically for a while. He wants a daily driver that is decently fast. He wants to talk the seller down to $18k to cover the 60k mile service and ac fix.

Looks like the car was left sitting outside for a while. 60K service that adds time and money to the price tag. For daily driving purposes I would personally keep searching.

He is going to check it out this week. What do you guys think of this set up though? Engine wise, such as reliability and practicality. This is all on paper of course.

For me, the CF hood is a red flag that it was owned by someone who has no idea what they are doing (or the car has been in an accident) - the OEM hood is lighter than a lot of CF hoods.

I would want one substantially more stock than this, to be a DD.

*Disclaimer: the points in my post are purely speculative.*
From the looks of it this Evo could have been previously built for high hp (judging by the fuel setup and transmission.) Because the owner does not know the brand of some parts leads me to believe someone before him did the mods. I would ask if the block is original to the car and if it isn't why. Overall the car seems to be in solid condition save for the 60k maintenance.

He doesn't want the car anymore, because it is not a daily driver at all! Thanks guys!

Car looks to be in decent condition. Some people would certainly pay 20k for that car. If it has been decently taken care of.

Possibly see if owner is willing to do the 60k service, then make an offer.

20k seems pretty high but then again, the value of the car doesn't depreciate too much unless you baby the car. Good luck

Needs timing service, has no AC, sounds like the guy who owns it now bought it the way it is. Good on your friend for passing on that car, it's not a DD car
