Evo9 ACD delete

so i got a 2006 evo 9 mr and when i was getting it checked at a garage before buying it i noticed that the acd pump oil reservoir was empty and that the pipes to the pump were disconnected and i get all three lights green on the dashboard for tarmac gravel and snow at the same time, the mechanic said that people do that for drag racing as it is better i just want to know if there are any drawbacks to this, thanks in advanced

Better for drag racing? Lol yeah I dont see that. Perhaps he was talking about from a weight perspective as the ACD Xcase with the pump is heavier than the non ACD unit. But assuming you still ahve the ACD xcase installed then with no hydraulic pressure your car now has an open center dfff. And no this isnt better for drag racing or anything for that matter.

I would wonder why it was disconnected in the first place. I would not be surprised if there is a fault with the pump. In any case, refer to the thread below for bleeding:

What would the pros and cons be of doing that in the first place?

What are you referring to?

Deleting the ACD, or hooking the ACD back up?

Pros:
  • lower/less maintenance costs for the drivetrain.
  • Increased weight savings.
  • Open spot on the driver's side duct area.
  • less engine bay clutter (ACD reservoir, lines).
  • Removing the transfer case is easier as you do not have to worry about the ACD lines.

Cons:
  • added cost for conversion to non-ACD.
  • no ability to adjust differential lock-up for varied conditions.
  • Decreased performance vs a viscous coupler.

This is assuming the ACD was deleted properly via non-acd transfer case swap or non-acd transfer case conversion. Otherwise, the differential is running much more like an open diff.
