Replacing front wheel bearings
Replacing front wheel bearings
Hey, Guys!
So it's finally time for me to swap out the two front wheel bearings. I decided to go with MOOG since it's not too expensive and seems like a quality part. Besides the wheel bearing assembly unit are there any other things that I should buy? I know that I need a new cotter pin but is there anything else? This is my first time doing this so any recommendation is welcome. Thanks

Loosen the castle nut while the car is on the ground if your wheels permit it.
Be careful with the wheel speed sensor. Its more than likely fused to the knuckle.
Also I assume you didnt get just the bearings, but the whole hub? If so its a bolt on affair. 4 bolts hold it to the knuckle in the back.
Its pretty straight forward actually. Unbolt the tie-rod and possibly the ball joint and you should be able to pull the axle out.
Granted the condition of your car and rust on the axle could mean some struggle in freeing it from the hub. Same with the hub and knuckle.
I'd clean the mating surfaces for the bolts, hub to knuckle etc too.
Could be a good time to do any bushings/balljoints/tierods while you're in there.

what the previous poster said, did you buy the whole hub or just the bearing? If it's the bearing only you're going to need a hydro press to push it out. Besides that I replaced mine with a socket set and needle nose pliers for the circlip, that's all there is to it really.
