Sputtering

Evo 8 started to sputter on w/ hitting boost. car recently got the plugs changed to a gap of .024, bpr8es. it backfires when i hit throttle and strt hitting boost and even when i brake boost

you look for boost leaks? if you ease into the gas how much boost builds before it starts to sputter?

im still leaning toward boost leak, or maybe you got a dead plug. ive never used the plugs you are currently using i always run with BPR7EIX. maybe try that.

I'll do a boost leak Sunday and see how that goes.. yes speed density, a d plugs were changed this past Sunday and before that it never sputtered. Car has a freshly built 2.3 with a spoolinup ignition coil kit

Put another set of plugs in it. Or gap the current plugs down a little to see if there is any change.

Is the AFR plugging dead rich when it breaks up.

Afr is 10.5 at 35lbs of boost. im going to do that tuesday when im off from work. ill take it to my tuner as well and see if theres anything up with the map

Bought some new plugs gapped them to .020 still does it.. going to gap them to 26 and see what it does

fuel regulator was fine, relay fuses to the double pumper were checked, boost leak was good, cam sensor was switched. what else can it be??? anybody who had the same problem on their evo get it fixed???? around 4k rpms its getting 2lbs of boost and its running lean..... oh and the wastegate was checked its fine as well
