transfer case death whine!!

transfer case death whine!!

it was a nice weekend and went on a spirited drive and during that i got airborne. after of couple minutes driving harsh i starting a whine growing from under the car. my question is has anyone else been airborne and killed the transfer case? also i just hit 150xxx miles this weekend.

Did you check the T-case fluid? has it been changed regularly with OEM fluid?

Has anyone been airborne and killed the transfer case? I've never seen that question ever..lol


It could be other issues but if you want to you need to drain the TC oil, see if there is colouring or metal in it and there's also an inspection plate to look at the teeth of the pinion

Fluid level is good and did it less then a year ago with redlin And im thinking about doing that draining the oil and looking at the ring and pinion gear. If they are wiped ill take some damage pics for u all to see

Sorry for the long wait and i couldnt take any bettet pictures. The pinion gear isnt shredded but when i drained the fluid it came out silver and i had put in redline about 8 months ago. From what i saw the pinion teeth is very worn out and scored. There is also a good amount of play between the pinion and ring gear.
