Yay. Another speedometer issue thread

Have not found an issue similar to mine. My speedometer only works when pressing the gas. It is accurate when working and I have changed the sensor with a known working one. Same issue with both sensors. I have taken the harness out and cleaned it. No arcing on the terminals like I've seen.

Guess I could add some info. 2003 base evo 8. V7 9417 Rom on SD. ABS has been deleted. Code is P0500 vehicle speed signal not present. I feel like it has something to do with the +5v to the sensor. This comes from the ecu correct? I'm not aware of any other power source for sensors.

Just saying - during acceleration the engine moves on it's mounts. For a test you could jumper the single wire to inside the cabin.

I have thought about doinng that. It works at cruise where I have slight pressure on the acceletaror so the engine shouldnt be moving. And I have a solid front roll stop with the other three mounts being the stiff avids.

Speed sensor is 12v and nothing to do with ECU.
Apart from the ECU using the input.

I worded that wrong. Meant to say the signal to ecu. Fixed my issue. At one point in time there was a magical blue vfd piece of crap that references speed installed in the car. The blk/yel wire for speed signal was put back in the acd/ayc spot on the ecu connector. Odd because 03's didn't have either of those. Removed the pin and put it where it should be and bingo. No more speedo drop outs.
