Cams, 4g64

Hi I am about to buy either a late evo 8 (2005) cuz i heared they have ayc or a evo 9 wich surely has ayc but is way more expensive. I want to go fullout racecar with it since i finished my last project
and i dont have grip till allmost last gear.. but my problem is that alot of mods are illegal where i live..

My question is: should i rather go with a stroker kit or even a 4g64? can i put the 4g63 cover on the 4g64? dont wanna swap my motor once every 2 years tbh. or can i leave the stock cams if i do that since i dont get that high rpm? would mivec help in my situation? my goal is around 700hp and i didnt hear of a 700hp evo with stock cams.. I will drive the car only at weekends so i dont really car about drivability

Sorry im asking so much haha but i would be glad for some answers

cheers

If you're buying a US car none of the third gen Evos have AYC. Every JDM/EDM Evo from the 4 onward has AYC. I think 7 onward has AYC and ACD.

edit: rs models use mechanical diffs instead of ayc cause rally

If you are wanting 700whp+ you'll need to do a lot but I wish I had AYC. What other mods were you thinking of? I have pretty much done everything for mine minus built transmission. running steady 600whp on E85.

isn't no AYC a bad thing for handling?

i would gut it regardlessly but since there aren't any avaible for purchase here that's no option anyways

700 hp and ayc and acd is gonna be problemsom.

700hp in a rs is raw power to the wheels.

If its anout handling i dont see why you would do 700hp

700 hp is way to much for a track car, you will repairing it all the time, plan for a 400 hp setup and start from there

I'm not planing on going to the track but i want it to be capable in coners... See i want a car that is fast in a straight and in corners i know hard to achive but in theorie.. what if i turn the boost down via a controller would it be track ready then or is it more about the lag of the turbo?

thanks for the replys so far

EDIT: I mean there are a lot of hardcore evos out there for hillclimbing going well past 700hp... i know i will NEVER EVER be able to use those hp to the full extend and a racingdriver will still beat me with a stock evo... and btw i meant max 700hp at the crank not the wheels... i will be doing diffrent maps and will use the 700hp map only to scare/race ppl so **** doesnt brake every 1000 miles XD

I think you need to decide what you actually want out of your setup and what kind of driving you actually do. You're not going to make 700hp on the stock cams regardless of what block you choose to run (at least in any reliable manner).

If you keep it 2 litre then it'll be laggier than a stroker kit, but you'll be able to rev it out more, which might be fine if you've got the somewhere where you can use that top end. With a 2.3 or 4g64 you'll have much more punch lower in the rev range, but you won't be able to rev it out as high, which might be fine if you drive through tight twisty stuff a lot.

You state a lot of mods are illegal, but then if you're changing exhaust/turbo etc etc the actual engine would be the least of your worries? Since no one is going to know what's actually in there unless they pull it apart?
