Evo vs Euro maintainance costs/reliability
Evo vs Euro maintainance costs/reliability
Hi everyone. I'm new to the Evo forums and had a question that I'm sure everyone here is tired of by now. In the past I've owned only euros (with the exception of an accord a while back). This includes a 5 series owned from around 60k miles to 120,000 miles, a 160,000 mile e36 that I still own, an Audi Q7 that's nearing 100k miles, and a newer Mercedes e350. Point is, I've owned plenty of high mileage European cars but never a japanese performance car. Was hoping someone could chime in on their thoughts about the reliability of an Evo 8/9 COMPARED to older high mileage euros. Reliability is important because this will be a daily and how would maintainance costs compare? And how will these numbers be affected after mods 😬? Thanks in advance for any help. Thinking to pull the trigger soon and just buy an Evo.
These are over 10 yr old, a lot have been tracked and worked. Yes they are reliable pending the car you buy and the history. Engine rebuilds are not cheap, you might want to look at an X also.
If you are up to paying for/actually doing proper maintenance, then an Evo can be very reliable. Mine is. Just remember that if you decide to track it, the costs go way up accordingly.
very reliable - zero issues that weren't self inflicted. zero. maintenance costs (both parts & service) are usually higher on the euro cars. i do all work myself. the engine is stout. drivetrain is solid. not sure what could honestly come up
