Sunroof issue (broken parts, not loose screws)
Hey guys, long time lurker and this is my first post. My issue with my sunroof is that it was getting hung up and I’d hear the typical grinding sound when trying to open or close it. So I’ve finally pulled apart the headliner and checked it out. My screws were all good and locktited. After messing around for a bit I decided to pull the glass out, turns out the 2 rear screws aren’t t-20 or t-25 they are some odd in between size. So one got stripped and I wasn’t able to get the glass out. Anyways while the passenger side was off and loose I was able to determine the rear white plastic guide pin popped out of place. So I reseated it and got it to function almost properly. It got hung up a little so when I checked the track I found a small broken piece of white plastic in the track. After taking that out I was able to make the sunroof function properly for a few cycles until I heard a pop. So I stopped messing with it, got it to seal and reinstalled the headliner. I figured I’d find some replacement parts and fix it, problem is, I can’t find a decent enough microfiche to figure out which part is broken. I also can’t find any information on this forum or internet dealing with the same problem. So my question is, has anyone else had this problem and/or know the part numbers to fix it? Thanks guys
Hey AZ, did you ever get the parts to fix the problem? I have the same broken bits on both sides of the track. I talked to mitsu parts and service ... not sure they even remember this car anymore. I was thinking 3d printing, hand carving some plastic, or just closing the roof and pulling the plug. BTW - I did have one screw fall out of the back left side when I dropped the back of the headliner and one other screw was loose.
