steering linkage issues
I had to pull the sub frame down to get my transfer case out. I pulled the sub frame down to far and it disconnected my steering linkage. I put it back together and set the car back down and I looked under my dash and seen that the linkage was like this. I've been pondering on how to fix it. I am hoping someone could chime in with some ideas
I see what happened. There's probably an easier way to do it but I would have pulled the steering column before dropping the subframe. Once you get it back straight the bent connection can probably be closed with a couple of worm drive hose clamps. But, you need to take a close look at the bent upper piece and decide if you trust it. Steering is crucial.
Try unbolting it from the rack, see if you can get all the way apart. Then slide the shaft back together, then put it back on the rack.
Make sure you lock the steering wheel in place while doing this so it doesn't rotate and break the clock spring. When reassembling, make sure the steering wheel and front tires are straight.
You may need to drop the subframe back down to get it out.

I took the bolt out of the shaft. Then I put the splines up into the steering column. Rebolted the shaft and crimp the ears down onto the splines and put a worm clamp on it. Nothing is damaged luckly. Took it for a test drive and it was good.
