I think this it going to be a common question for a lot of US evo owner soon. (JDM tank in a USDM car)
I've order a fuel tank from ears.ie (Ireland)
Was cheaper that others (cost me $550), and I assume its just like JDM in the photos above. But I will confirm what I get when it arrives. I will also make a video about it on my YouTube channel.
Not surprising, but i'm confirming the one from Ireland I received is also JDM.
I've been trying to get information regarding this too. It appears all the holes are there for everything to work just like oem. Can you transfer everything over? Or am I wrong in thinking this would work. Is the only difference the JDM tank does not have the fuel temp sensor?

Guys,
To my discovery you can get these JDM tanks here in the US I just called a few dealerships. They don't have them in stock by have some in the USA. So this makes me think, someone knows something. If these did not work, why would they be here. But still trying to figure out if these will work, or at least fit.
If I find the information we are looking for I will reply.
If I remember correctly the tanks general shape are pretty identical. I think the angle at which the picture was taken is making it look different. The only thing I can think that is different w/ the JDM compared to USDM in the rear is the rear diff being AYC which seems bigger in pictures compared to a USDM diff housing. The only other thing that is mounted in the rear in the JDM model is the AYC pump, which is mounted where the charcoal canister is mounted in the USDM. model. The fuel filler neck is also different on the JDM model bc of the absence of the charcoal canister.
Just thought I'd chime in here with some information that may or may not be useful.
I am a tig welder, I have an Evo 9 as well.
Recently I put an aftermarket tank in my daily driver (2000 civic) as it was rusted and leaking (I was smelling gas). When I removed the original tank I had it sitting outside for a week and obviously it rained in the tank sitting on my porch. I'm not supposed to put that kind of thing in my garbage so I was going to take it someplace with a dumpster. I ended up just cutting it in several pieces with my torch, and there were no fires or anything due to it previously having gas in it. I could not fit it inside of my garbage can without cutting it into smaller pieces.
I do think this kind of repair (with a stud) is possible, but the tank needs to be inert from a flamable standpoint.
Has anyone confirmed the JDM tank fits yet and whether or not you can use the USDM filler neck? I guess we'll also have to find an alternative to the rubber filler hose since Mitsubishi decided to discontinue that too. I'll be in this situation soon so if the jdm tank will fit, I'll probably just order it at the same time as the jdm bumper.
From the pics I don’t see why filler neck setup wouldn’t work. Gates sells straight filler neck hose and reinforced hose that can be bent without collapsing.
