I own an EVO9 GSR 2006 that I bought new in Dubai - UAE where I reside.
I dont drive it a lot, 38K km
Some mods: Intercooler, fuel pump, blowoff valve, free flowing exhaust, smaller battery, ECU Flash

 

Can someone recommend a a good VIN decoder.

My EVO9 GSR is a European spec:
Year 2006
Catalog MMC202002
Model CT9A

Several of the VIN Decoders give an error when reading my VIN.

USDM VIN decoders won't tell you anything since they assume 17 digits. Does your VIN read like "CT9A-xxxxxxx"? If so, that structure is for JDM cars, as far as I know.

Anyway, CT9A is the official chassis code for all Evo 7-9s. If you see those digits in your VIN, this is the only other info you can get from it:

Evo7 - CT9A 010XXXX SJGFZ

Evo8 - CT9A 020XXXX SJGFZ

Evo8 MR - CT9A 030XXXX SJGFZ

Evo9 - CT9A 040XXXX SJGFZ

In the suffix letters:

J = 6 speed or N = 5 speed

G - GSR or GT and D = RS

Okay, there isn't much that you can learn from that VIN. The CT9A and SJ info remains, plus JMB, which follows the standard VIN format for country of assembly, etc. plus check digits and the last 6 as the sequential number. There isn't much hidden information.

 

OK, tanks RS200. I am a bit confused about the model of the car I have and wanted to get more info from the VIN. I believe I have the GSR model but wanted to know the exact turbo spec I have. And if I had the light weight aluminum roof? This what I was able to get after multiple VIN decoder tries:
