Could use another set of ears to help diagnose engine noise

Long story short: Had some (what I thought was top end) engine noise. Sounded like lifter tick. Ended up pulling my head and having MAP rebuild it (new EVERYTHING). Installed GSCS2s (had Tomei 270s). Installed head, did timing, bled the lifters (and primed them while the TBELT was off).....and still hearing the noise.

Pulled the valve cover, replaced lifters and rockers with a known good working set that just came out of my buddy's Evo, and....still happening (I installed these ones soft with no oil in them after bleeding and cleaning them).

It's still happening. At this point, I have no idea what is might be. My fear is it could be bottom end issues.

Here is a link to a video of the noise.
Any thoughts or help, would really be appreciated on this one.
Cheers.

Take a long screwdriver to ear and surface and try to narrow down area. Injectors are know to be ticky too I'd start looking g there.

This was shortly after the first start up. I actually drove it around the block (waiting for a better basemap) and I can say the noise definitely got quieter....Will give it a few days, maybe she just needs some oil to flow through her.

All I can hear is the injectors ticking, unless I’m missing something. Does seem kinda loud to be injectors though

It had never done that until recently. Even with cams my under hood engine noises have been relatively tame. There is definitely “something” going on. I wish I had a before and after as the results would be noticeably different.
I may try to throw them into a friends car and use his just to see if that is the issue.

I think I hear what you’re talking about now, almost sounds like something tapping on the valve cover?

Update: good news is since starting to drive it, the sound has more or less ceased for now. I took it out and ripped on it a bit and I couldn’t really hear it afterwards, so wondering if the lifters were the issue all along and just needed some bleeding/oiling

correct... thats why i asked how much you had driven it... it sometimes takes a little bit for them to pump up.

glad you got it figured out
