Evo 4 Daily

So I'm looking at making an Evo 4 my daily driver and I just had a few questions. my current daily driver is a 1991 Mazda Miata
  • Is an Evo 4 a okay daily driver for all year round?
  • is an Evo 5-8 ECU swap necessary or a good thing to do ?
  • If so how hard is it to swap an Evo 4 ECU for a Evo 5-6 or Evo 7-8?
  • should I budget an Evo 5-6 engine swap?
the Evo 4 I'm looking at has 60,000 km on it and I'm planning on getting a pre purchase inspection on it before I buy

In Edmonton Evo loves winter! Why just ECU swap though? If it's stock leave it that way until there is a need to change stuff?

The cars are made to be driven but consider salt and winter corrosion. I'd at least have the underbody treated to help mitigate it if year round driving is your intention. But in the end the moisture and salt will win.

I wouldn't daily drive an Evo 1-6 in Canada, period. These cars do need maintenance with parts that are not readily available - it's a 20 year old car and if something breaks that isn't available in North America, you're taking a taxi for a couple of weeks. Even if it's an issue that isn't of critical importance, you'll start neglecting issues that should be addressed, and the car will slowly deteriorate. I've seen it so many times. The Evo 4 is probably the least reliable Evo there is, too..
