Is buying an evo 7 as a car newbie a wise choice?

To start this off I'm not very knowledgeable about cars but I've liked how the evo 7 looked ever since I was a kid, and I've been looking to buy a new car in the near future but didn't know how much jdm car prices have skyrocketed in Australia.

I found a listing for an evo 7 with 120,000kms for 30k. It's brothers 8/9/10's are about 40k with around 120-140,000kms, and the lower range 50-60,000kms are 50-60k. Idk if this is relevant but in terms of which I like more it'd be 7-9-8.
The car is overall stock and I probably won't be doing many changes to it if it isn't needed, though that may change if I end up really enjoying driving it. My current car is the '13 Lancer ES.

Are there any resources in which I can read up on to know whether the 7 would be a smart buy and whether it'll depreciate over the years or rise over time like the skylines/civics here.

I've watched CZero's videos on youtube on what to look for before buying, but tbh tech wise I've no idea what the difference is between these. I've read a bit on these forums about 5/6 speed and small differences in models but don't know what it means.

I'm thinking No

Too many variables if you're new to the game, the motor, gearbox or tc made need work and you'll need to lay down another 15k on that which is what happened to me with my 9 and that only had 64k on it. If you have the money to blow just in case go for it

Do you have the money to throw at a shop for repairs if something goes wrong? If so then sure.
I wouldn't have wanted an Evo to be my first foray into the world of DIY mechanic stuff though.

So after a bit of consideration I'll probably not be going ahead with it, I ended up reading into the evo's for a few hours last night and had a chat on another forum, for a beginner even though it's a car I really like, I just wouldn't have the experience and knowledge to keep the car up to standards. Plus the 30k price tag is a bit too big of a jump in point for me, and once you add in the eventual repairs too it's probably a bit too deep for my pockets.

I'll be dipping my toes in with some a turbo mx5 and a civic to see if I may eventually end up wanting something like an evo down the line.

Thanks for replies, cept that one dude.

These guys scared you away? It's very sensible of you to shy away....buy the Evo. Can it sit while you fix it yourself? If yes, buy the Evo. If you were a hoonigan type then I'd be with the rest of 'em saying no to you, instead you go the wise route which kinda says you'll properly care for it so don't wait to get priced out, get froggy and jump on the car.
Unless it has to be primary transport and you can't afford rapid fixes, then shy away.
