Supra or Evo?
Hey guys, let me start by explaining my situation. I have put quite a bit of money into my 03 Lancer, as you can see in my registry and sig, however, one thing has lead to another and it's time for me to start thinking about moving up in the game, I have brought myself to a point with my car that I am unable to move much further forward without spending rediculous amounts of money, where even then I won't be getting worthy gains of any sort.
So here I am now, with a situation, and I'm coming to you guys to give me advice and help me consider things that I myself may have not thought about. My car will most likely go to my dad, who will give me money towards whatever I decide to go with next. My big problem is that i don't know what i should go towards next and thats where I ask for some input, i've been a frequent of the boards for quite some time now, mainly of the US lancer boards, but over the past couple months I have become much more frequent of the evo sections of the forum.
Ever since it was announced that the evo was goign to be released in the states, I have been in love with the car, unfortunatly at the time I wasn't able to afford one, so i made due with what i had. I've now put myself in the mind set that I will do what I need to do to wait, and save, and enjoy the next car I have, and make it one where I will be able to mess around with and it will offer me many of the expensive amenities that I am seeking to get. It becomes unrealistic to try and upgrade every peice of say, a lancer oz, as it doesn't take a genious to realize that your money is quickly going nowhere.
NOW TO THE POINT: I have had this long desire for the evo since it has been sent to the states, but now that I am in a situation to consider my next vehicle, I have been doing a lot of thinking and thats where i'm looking for help. I have considered cars like the 350Z, S2000, G35, STI, but when it comes down to it by either analyzing the cars features, or test driving, none of these cars can seem to make me as happy as owning an evolution seems to. Recently I have been browsing the internet and I came across some MK IV Supras. This never crossed my mind before as it always seems to impracticle to own a supra as they are so rare and normally very expensive. It seems however that I a supra in decent shape for 30k or less even, assuming i take the time to look around and find the perfect one. My big question is, should i just save up and wait for the IX to come out, or should i look into a supra, i know they are completely different cars, but i would like your input on the pros and cons of putting myself into a brand new evo, as compared to a used supra. I'm sorry for the length of this but assuming I get feedback on this I will continue to elaborate on my situation and answer any questions as I'm sure I have left this thread pretty open ended. I appreciate your input and I hope that many of you will have valuable information for me to think about while going through this.

Sorry man.. but for $30k I take a 03-04 Vette Z06 anyday. The Supras are cool and all that but I would never spend that kind of money for a car like that.
For example, I had a Dodge Stealth R/T Twin turbo once, I love the car it was fast, the thing is that when I bought it used it cost about one third of what a Supra would have cost. Amazingly the Supra was not much more expensive new than the Stealth R/T Twin Turbo..
If you want similiar peformance and want to save money(save $15000) get yourself a RX7 TT,Nissan 300 ZX TT,Mitsubishi 3000GT VR4 TT or even a C4 Vette but no way in hell I am paying $30000 for a car that they don't make since 98 and they are overprice. Even a Porsche 993 you canm get for that kind of price.
Remember, the Supras area myth because it could be a great race car but at a high cost. This fast Supras that you see have single turbo conversions, FMIC and many things like that..
Supra TT= No thanks!!

yeah i can see where you are coming from with that. to me tho, supras are like the exotic of imports like toyota / mitsu / honda, they are so rare and they are just sweet. What do you think about getting an evo instead of the cars you listed? I know that an evo might not have the potential highway potential that a supra has or the other cars that you listed but for me, i want a car that is going to be a player in all situations, but the car is a street car, that means its driven pretty much daily (not in the winter). I'm big into twisties and stuff like that, i'm not just a drag guy (im actually not into drag racing much at all).
Supra is freaking nice, but 30K for a over 6 years old car sometimes makes you wonder if it's worth it.
I personally would take the Supra over an Evo if it was brand new.
So think about it, with 30K you can almost buy a brand new evo with WARRANTY and so much less mileage.
But the respect you get in Supra are pretty fu*ing sweet. When I had my 95 TT Supra, man I get much more attention than my 03 Evo now. The reason I sold it is because it just cost way too much to maintain it and for road races, EVO has better lap times.
Just my 2 cents, it's your money.

It depends on what your goals are:
1. Car with a warranty and new= EVO
2. Track car with better reliability=EVO being new vs a 6-9yr old car
3. 800whp highway/street racer=Supra
4. Looks and rarity department=Supra
5. Makes the most sense financially=EVO
EVO or 03' Z06 in my book.
