Random strangers asking to buy your Evo
Mods, please move or delete if already posted. I was working on a friend's car last night and we had an interesting discussion. He daily drives his car and mentioned there have been random people asking if he wants to sell his car. I believe I saw similar stories like that on this forum but can't remember. I just thought it was interesting, I rarely drive my car so that hasn't happened to me. We both have 9's with well over 100,000 miles and bought them years before the insane price hike. Has this happened to anyone else here?
Yeah. When i have mine out, which is rare these days, i find a lot people asking me if i plan to or would like to sell it. I guess if i really wanted to sell i could have continued those conversations but given that i'm not selling it and i dont know if they're serious, i just let them go.
Always feels good though to know there's still interest in these cars.

It's happened a few times. My last encounter was at a stop light. I said "yeah I'll let it go for 60k". Dude was like "oh wow, that's crazy". My response was "...yeah, I don't want to sell it"
About a year ago, i found a note saying "saw youe evo, give me a call."
So i called him and turns out he was about to buy another evo but the guy backed out last minute. He had cash in hand and wanted to know if he could buy mine. I told him no, sorry but at least he was willing to give me market price and he even offered me his other car on top.

I've had a couple of random people ask about buying it irl and a handful of random people contact me online asking if I want to sell.
My car isn't very clean so I assume the only reason they're doing this is because they think they might get a crazy deal so I never even bother with anything more than "it's not for sale." Otherwise they would just buy one online for market value like everyone else.
My second car was a NA miata and when it was decent looking no one cared but after it got a dent in it and the clear started failing suddenly boomers were walking up to me in parking lots asking if I'm looking to sell it assuming I would let it go for a steal on a whim or something.

I once saw a guy snap a pick at my evo 9 from the end of my street when I had my garage open. Got really sketched out as I though it was some gone in sixty seconds stuff where they go blacklist shopping. The next day guy knocks on my door asking if it was for sale. I told him whatever I would let it go for would be something outrageous and if he really wanted one to look elsewhere.

Tell me about it. My basement dwelling, cheese stain 20 year old neighbour is worth 120k more because he bought a digital joke crypto with a shiba inu as its logo. If that doesn't say money has become meaningless I don't know what does.
Fresno. Dead center of California. Very few running Evo's in my city.
