Camaro totalled my evo.

As the title states, one more evo off the road. Unfortunatlely, my evo was rear ended on the freeway by a douche in a 2020 camaro. The trunk got pushed almost to the back seat. Pushed me into a vehicle in front and destroyed the acd pump and intercooler. I have been a part of this community and forum since 2006. I have daily driven my car since i bought it in 2006, so i didnt let the car go to waste. I put 160000 miles on it in that time. Loved every single minute. Thanks to all of those in the past and i wish the new owners the best of luck with these amazing vehicles. I am priced out of buying another one unfortunately, but would definately come back if i could.

Damn, an evo 9 too..thats a total loss beyond any repair. So sorry man I know how it feels, totalled my evo 8 rs with 32k miles years ago but through fault of my own. Id be in rage if someone else did it. At least you're okay and got decent miles out of it. How old was this camero driver? What a ****..

Sorry to hear that but glad you are ok. I know people sometimes buy the car back from insurance or something to part out. If so, maybe you can just save the good parts in the event you get another Evo down the road. Some of these parts are getting rare too :/

yeah. i thought about keeping it and parting it out, but i probably would have just sold the whole thing for cheap anyway. it was rotting away in front of my house. took 4 months to get it resolved. i still might pull some parts off and sell them before they pick it up. probably try to pull the licp, spooling up cop kit, works exhaust, and whatever else i can salvage.

My number almost came up a few months ago in a similar way, country driving and a car stopped in front of me to turn into a drive way. As I pulled up I suddenly got this feeling to get by fast so I pulled up the side walk and hit it, as I did I heard this huge bang, a car had stopped behind me and another hit it at speed, probably would have slammed it into the back of me. A lucky escape but I just think that's how it's going to happen, someone hitting me.

That was a big hit & glad youre OK! Been in two of those types of accidents so i understand but loosing the EvO like that is super tough.

Make sure insurance understands the value before settling the claim!

Glad you're physically fine. ROLLER SWAP! If you can. Don't let insurance toss your parts.

I like this idea. Maybe keeping you in the EvO fold?

HAHA. yeah, i looked at all affordable options to keep it, even as a salvage. nothing made monetary sense. my garage isnt big enough to have a whole car in pieces, while i find the money and parts to replace. the EVO paid off one of my other vehicles as its last dying act. as far as looking at 8's, 9's, and 10s in my area, i am priced out of the group if i want to feed my family. lol.

believe me. the hardest thing is to let go of this vehicle. it was, hands down, the BEST vehicle i have owned. i wanted to rip the engine and drivetrain out, but i cant realistically, turn my neighborhood, or house into a scrapyard. maybe, in the future, i can get into another one, but for now, i have to let my car go.

yeah, that piece of **** didnt even hit the brakes. slammed full on into me at 45 mph. i was dead stopped. i had a close call a couple years ago, when my car was hit while parked. the insurance was ready to total it on fender and door damage alone. i fought like hell to fix it. and then this happened. no accidents in this vehicle in 14 years, then 2 quick ones in the last couple of years.

Sorry to see your Evo taken away by a senseless accident. The parts availability of parts now is completely different. I am sure a local Evo shop would buy the car as is for a good price and completely part it out.
