Evo 9 oil low level light stay on when engine off.

Hey everyone,

I have an Evo 9 USDM with ECU Master Black. I did the wiring myself. When I trun the ignition on all the way (without starting the engine) and turn it off the oil low level light will stay on. It's very dim though like have 30-50% brightness of fully on. When I start the car it turn of. But will be on (dim also) again after I turn it off.

There is no connection between the low level switch and ECU that I know of. So I'm pretty sure I didn't mess something up. The car runs with no issues.

Anyone had this issue before or now a possible cause/fix? Thanks.

I have an IX and it doesn't have a low level oil light that I have ever seen. I think it has an oil pressure light. If it is staying on you have a short or low oil pressure. The sender is on the engine some where. Get a shop manual and replace sensor or check wiring.

I have a pressure gauge and pressure is more than fine. There is an oil level switch that activates the level light. It next to the oil filterin the oil pan.

Is this a non US market car? I've never seen a level sensor on any USDM cars. Just checked my 8 and 9 to make sure I wasn't stupid. All I have is the low oil pressure dummy light.

Evo 9 has the same oil pressure switch moved to the oil filter housing. That's what I think you're seeing. Evo 8's oil pressure sensor is on the back of the block where the 9's mivec feed comes from. I've extensively looked at usdm wiring diagrams and have never seen an oil level indicator sensor.

Most likely the sensor died. It's not uncommon.

When the engine is running its off though. Only when its off the light stays on. I will check the pressure switch connection and see.

Thanks everyone.
