engine oil light flashing

engine oil light flashing

Just now my oil light is flashing..it comes and goes..
I checked my oil its fine and at the right level.. What could be the problem?

Well that has nothing to do with anything.

Like I said, probably is the Oil pressure sending unit.

I think ive heard of this happening a few times before

replace your oil pressure sender like Evocrazy said, i think autozone has a replacement for around 10 dollars.

if that does not fix it then your oil pump is on its way out and needs to be replaced.

if you have a warranty then you should take it to the dealer

Not likely, but if it doesn't go away it's not a good sign. Is it making any louder knock type noises?

Low oil pressure would cause the the rods to knock. If it's not making any weired noises most likely it's just a sender.

i heard knocking sound when it was flashing on and off..
but now its gone.. i dont know what was the problem..
but i will be watching

My car just started doing that aswell, I will be checking my sending unit tom. I hope. If thats the problem I will be very happy.

My light has blinked a few times as well. I didn't know what it was at first b/c it blinked so fast. I caught it last night. It seemed to come on when I was braking kinda hard. If it is the sending unit, how do I know when I take it out?

The light has blinked maybe 3 times this week with me driving over 1000 miles.
