Evo guys what will you do when most of the evo parts get discontinued
Yup you are right. It is sad but I hope we can get aftermarket parts. I called everywhere and nobody has 4th gear for evo 8 only evo 9 which is shorter. Only option is straight cut which I dont like but I feel like I have no other option now. Trans case is also discontinued so imagine cracking or braking your trans case and only option would be to weld and repair it.
it won’t last long unless it’s done by a pro.

I've bought a bunch of parts through various dissmantlers. If not for them, I don't know if my evo would still be on the road.

I will respectfully disagree. IMO, these folks provide a service that benefits the community. I don't see how making more parts available increases the price.

Buying a wrecked/abandoned car then stripping it to sell the parts for more than 3x the price you'd get if you sold it as is? Pretty known concept. Part outs are common from Japan to the USA and it yields a major profit for the individual doing it. You can buy a totalled evo 9 on a copart auction today for 15k-20k. Then sell each part individually and collect up to 35k-40k then they scrap the shell. That's just with one car. Saldy some shops in japan are doing it with perfectly running clean cars because it simply cashes in way more than selling as a whole.

flooded with cash and when the Evo is no more they’re on to the next platform.

Fairy dust would be a good name for some DMLS media. I am also a techno optimist. Jay Leno has been 3d printing unobtanium parts for a while now. It's been a years, but I've seen videos of him talking about 3d printing and car restoration.

Reason for optimism. I'm guessing you guys all know of this?

Banking on the notion that these cars have a pedigree in many forms of motorsports and aftermarket will keep them alive. They are too loved all over the world and still raced competitively to die off anytime soon.
I Dunno. It's already hard to find a lot of stuff. A 1995 Honda Civic? Easy. 2006 Evolution? Good luck.

Once printing costs go down or the parts are not available then it will shift into making or manufacturing parts rather than selling whats available.
