Evo guys what will you do when most of the evo parts get discontinued
It's probably more fair to compare a billet head to the cost of a cast head + CNC porting. If you do that, the cost of the billet starts to seem more justifiable considering the other advantages.
Bayson R, a local company, makes the replica JDM Evo IX rear bumper. I have both the OEM one and their replica and they are identical from the outside. Other companies make replicas of the front bumper and rear bumpers however they always have a detail or two that makes them different.
Billet cylinder heads I dont see those being profitable but I could be wrong. Depends on how you setup them up on your CNC machine and how fast you can machine them.
Casting them would be the way to go. Like this company has done. https://www.rosssport.com/Brands/SME...-Cylinder-Head

Not too long ago it use to cost tens of thousands (if not more) to have a prototype/small batch/one off Printed Circuit board produced. This would involve a lot of administrative back and forth etc. Today anyone can create/purchase designs, upload them to a fab house, and have them mailed in a few days for peanuts. I don't know if this is the future of all manufacturing, but I hope for it.
I have no idea what I'm talking about, but it would seem to me that machining from a billet lends itself more to this model than casting. Additive manufacturing is what I am really rooting for though.

What are the DSM'rs / Eclipse guys doing for parts? For sure their community has shrunk but i know those DSM enthusiasts are still out there
If theres a volume market out there, that needs filling & can make money, my hope is OE type replacements will be available?

Hey, guys. Has this been brought up? Sounds familiar. I have people swearing they are finding parts.

Something very weird is going on at Mitsubishi. I've ordered parts from sources in Japan that disagree on availability, but ultimately tell me a part is no longer available worldwide. I walked into my local Mitsubishi stealer on Friday and ordered a transfer case cover that has been out of stock worldwide on all of my last 4 attempts to buy it, they said they could do it. Some parts may still be in production - I bought an Evo 123 handbrake lever (which is now showing as out of stock worldwide), and the production date on it showed 2021. Just be persistent, annoy the hell out of everyone, and beware of shipping charges.
I bought those drip mouldings from my local dealer about a year ago. The parts guy told me that the mouldings were frequently sold. STM had them as well when i was looking but i saved about 100 dollars going local. I had read a couple of threads that some parts will go "discontinued" then all of a sudden go back in stock, which was the case for the drip mouldings. For sure weird things go on
Being that the drip moldings are sold on base model lancers, there's a lot more applications out there than just evos. I picked up a new set just out of FOMO.
Also, I got wind from one of our mitsu suppliers that Mitsubishi has raised prices on all their parts so expect to see price hikes in affect soon.

These drip rails were out of stock worldwide for Evo 123, but I called up my local Mitsu dealer in Canada and somehow they had 5 sets. We never officially had a Mitsubishi that uses them, so I have no clue on earth how they got here - most part numbers for the Lancer/Mirage don't even come up in their system. Anyway, I was happy to buy a pair for like $350 CAD after tax, which was a bargain. Amayama recently did some update and changed the stock availability on a lot of items that were previously discontinued, they now show the Evo123 rails being in stock with a price of $89 each, but shipping on something that size from Japan is easily $1,000 these days if they did somehow have them.

I think the logistics, inventory, and pos systems might not be showing reliable inventory counts. It might have to do with their USA headquarter move or something related.

Yea I have noticed this too. I wanted to buy some Evo X parts that were out of stock in the USA. However I was able to buy those parts from a Mitsu Parts dealer in the UAE. I dont know it if its new old stock or new stock.
I think the logistics, inventory, and pos systems might be 100% for Mitsubishi. It might have to do with their USA headquarter move or something related.

I've got a theory that with the way 3d printing is going there will be tons of people making parts for there car that get discontinued, I wouldnt be shocked if businesses pop up for just that specific purpose. At least thats my hope, if not, honestly I'll just enjoy my car as long as I can.
Stock on Evo123 stuff is still quite impressive, I have to say. Some interior stuff is gone (consoles, some door panels, pillars, misc. trim, etc) and transmission parts were cleaned out, but exterior-wise? Jackpot. Another 2+ major orders are on the way.
unfortunately the part number he uses (1700A025) doesn't seem to pull up from US online dealers. You could try popping into a dealership and see if they can get it.
If not, it does pull up on the JDM parts importers ( amayama / impex ) so perhaps there is an opportunity to cross shop.
