external fuel gauge

hello,

i have a digital dash on my evo and would like to install a external fuel gauge with my stock wiring to the bpm double pumper, my problem is how do i stop the fuel level to slow down when the fuel sloshes around in the tank... i know there is a in-built anti slosh buffer in the stock evo gauge... but how do i make a circuit so i slow down the sloshing of the fuel??

thanks

Adapt this simple approach using a 10K uF cap to dampen the sender output voltage at the guage.

Which digital dash do you have? Someone on here may have already solved it for you.
(For example the Haltech IC 7 digital dash has software settings to dampen and scale the level sender input and you don't need to add the extra resistor and capacitor).

thanks for the answer but i dont want to have fuel level shown in the digital gauge ( power tune digital) i want to install a external fuel gauge which i baught off ebay.
im not sure if an external gauge would need a dampner circuit or not... this is the gauge i have baught which i want to install using siginal from my evos sender.

those generic gauges are likely not going to work with the factory sending units, they are designed for standard aftermarket level sensors. The factory set up has 2 level sensors, one on each side of the tank and the signal wire is a combination of both.

care to share the setting used for the fuel level sender?

yes and that signal wire goes to the oem cluster to show fuel level... and if i take the singal from those wiring would that work? just shifting from factory gauge to another.

@Wheelspk Yes, the green wire is pin 51 on the C-02 blue connector to the gauges. This is the fuel gauge control voltage input. To figure out the control voltage range, pull your fuel pump & sender no.1 from the drivers side fuel tank access hole, pull sender no. 2 from the passenger side access hole, and then use your volt meter to measure voltage between pin 51 and ground as you move the float arms on each sender. The circuit design in the FSM adds the voltage drop across both senders (which are variable resistors), one for each side of the saddle tank. With both arms raised up (tank full) you will get the "full" control voltage, and with the arms down the "empty" control voltage. Next pull the connectors to both senders, connect your ohm meter across each, and move the arms through the full range of motion to measure their resistances at "full" and "empty". They may be set up for max resistance at empty and zero resistance at full although you will have to verify this fact as it could be the opposite. If you add your two sender resistances together with the max and min voltage, you have the information needed to select and drive an external fuel gauge.

EDIT: Just found the resistances you need in the FSM -
2003-2004 : 4 ohms full, 110 ohms empty
2005-2006 : 13 ohms full, 120 ohms empty

2003 FSM

2005 FSM
