3400 miles my number 1 bearing spun breaking my piston rod and trashing my engine, no mods, i don't race or launch the car, and i broke it in like a champ, had new engine replacement, even with this unexpected situation i still love the car, but for a while (while driving A mitsu Gaylant rental) i was contemplating why i didn't buy a STI.

Thanks, excellent forum, well put togeather

You got to remember its not an evo 8 for no reason, theirs 7 before it. The evo 8 is just the first 1 in the united states, I think they would have corrected any of the problems by the 7, considering its almost identical.

I had to pick yes, but that's only because of the weak clutch and my bad driving.

19,000 miles and no major problems. Only real things I have noticed are rattles and little noises but nothing worth worrying about.

Only at 1,200 miles... Only problem was a missing seat recliner adjuster knob, missing rear seatbelt male part (I don't know how a manufacturer could let this slip), broken air box clip, missing intake clip. Just got everything taken care of today at the dealer, except the seatbelt. I'm not sure if I want it replaced. Don't you have to rip up the whole backseat to ad this part??? Well, better these minor things than powertrain problems.

11k and no problems that aren't directly related to my mods.
I do however have the suspension "clunk" noise. But thats no big deal in my mind.

Exclamation rattle

if it is when you ease off the gas after high reving or low speeds it is either the cat conv. or the heat sheild on the turbo/headder

Everything that has broken on my Evo I have broken. Clutch just went not that it was burnt but it simpy could not hold the WHP I was putting through it. Random ratlles disapear as teh car wars up.

Biggest surprise is my Evo's Suspension went at about $43,000 Miles. The front right Strut completely blew and leaked out all of the oil. I also commuted 120Miles a day and drove agressively. It is no wonder the front right blew as that is where the car gets the worst part of the road with the most weight on it. I predict that there will be some major issues with other NON-MR Evo's in the future, I drive alot, I have MILES on the car. My right rear was starting to blow too but no doubt for the same reasons + I drove on it for a month so it was holding the car up.

I have Coilovers now.

Looking at a used EVO this weekend. Just had a quick question. Are all the problems dealing with the clutch/ transfer case all under warranty? Has anyone had to pay some serious amount of money to have there EVO fixed or is everything replaceable under warranty? What parts are not warrantied?

Thanks

John
