Absolutely no problems at 10K. My tires are about gone so you can tell about how hard I drive it. I would buy another evo in a quick minute, it is one "bad ***" little car. Beyond changing the oil and rotating the tires (every 3500 miles) I have spent no time at all tunning or adjusting it. I just drive it, race it, and enjoy it.

I would agree with those who commment that it is not really a car for those who lack expereince and skill with fast cars. Perhaps it would be wiser for neophytes to spend a few years modding up an older talon or 2g turboed eclipse. I made my share of costly mistakes learning what to expect and what to respect before I started buying my hi performance cars off the new car lot but then it's your money.

Hi Im Tim and Im 31 1/2 years old my EVO is really fast and it doesnt break. JK. I have had no reliability issues, I have got the usual mods exhaust, dynoflash, intake. My mileage is around 2300 as it is not my daily driver, but when I do drive it I beat on it but I do not abuse it. I love my EVO because it is really really fast.

I selected "no problems" as of 6.5K because there has been nothing that has disabled the vehicle in any way. There are two "areas of concern" though. First, I'm getting the same paint chips behind the driver's side rear door (and adjusted the door out a little bit myself to fix it). Second, I see a little bit of rust on one side underneath the rear bumper which looks like evidence of the problem others have mentioned. It remains to be seen if either of these are problems that have to be addressed by though.

My numbers just keep getting larger. 15k miles, 25+ dragstrip passes (12.90's), 2 track days at Putnam Park, and 3 auto-x events (3 for 3 in the trophy department). Going to Mid-Ohio friday. Stock clutch is holding great, only trips to the dealer were for checking the alignment (warranty), changing tranny, center, and rear diff oil (that way it's in their records), and the rust under the bumper (fixed without a single question). I drive it hard every time I get behind the wheel, and I would (will???) buy another one in a heartbeat.

10k miles, no problems except for the jealousy, anger, and hatred from other drivers.

I think the problem % should include the number of folks who autocross and road race.. funny they seem to be the ones who have the least problems.. Even if they drag race it as well.. Could this be a pattern?

Not Including ample road circuit and cone roaming time in your Evo's diet may result in internal organ failure..

Take it back to the dealer for the 5th gear fix. Mitsu knows about the problem and dealers have been fixing them.

Road and Track has a long term Evo, have close to 30k miles on it, no problems, no mention of any clutch issues, they are just wearing out tires every 10k miles, and needed brake pads and rotors turned at 20k miles. Their comments about the car are very positive!

gosh, i really hate to say it but i've had some problems. i got hit over spring break and the car was sitting in the shop for some time while the parts were being shipped. so when the shop needed to move it, it misfired. so i've had to leave it w/my parents for some time. so when i go home recently, i'm just taking it for spin and the "service engine soon" light comes on. this is my biggest worry right now. so if anyone knows wtf the service engine soon light is supposed to mean, plz let me know. i know mt said theirs was due to lower octane gas, but my parents know better than that. it's not red (yet) so i'm assuming a sensor is out of whack or something. so if u guys know of any other reasons, plz let me know. thanks.

This country needs stricter drivers licensing requirements ASAP.

Thumbs down

@3400 miles and 3 months of ownership, O2 sensor blew due to a damaged engine harness. Dealer attempted to blame me for the damage. 1 week at the dealer and $656 later, car has third O2 sensor and second engine harness (Yes, the entire thing had to be replaced!). Now at 5200 miles and $3000 in mods...no problems since. Car is rarely driven hard and has been turbo timered since the day I bought it.
