Evo 8 - FIC 950cc Injectors - Running Lean

Hello everyone,

I am new to tuning and have recently started modifying my car Evo 8. I recently installed a new Turbo (MHI Mitsubishi Evolution 4-9 TF06-18K Turbo Upgrade) and new FIC 950cc injectors.
When I start the car I am running lean. I expected to run rich. I am not sure what to do. Please be gentle I am complete novice.
I have a tuner helping me online but he said with the bigger injectors I should not be running lean so I need to run back what I did.
I don't see any leaks from the injectors and the all seem to be working when you disconnect as the car is running. Fuel pressure is good around 45psi.
Please advise if I did something wrong.

I have only slightly modded the car, the following is what was done:

- Braided Lines 6AN Fuel tank to rail
- STM Fuel Rail
- Fuel Lab Mini FPR
- JDC Coil on Pack
- Walboro 255 pump
- Tial BOV
- Mishimoto Intercooler
- Mishimoto Radiator
- STM Downpipe
- STM 3 piece cat back exhaust
- Zeitronix ZT2 wideband and boost

What injectors did you pull off the car? Based on the listed mods, it seems probable it already had aftermarket injectors.

Hello,

I had on stock injectors.

I had to upgrade the fuel lines and change the tank because it was all rusted out.

That's pretty odd then. If the fuel pressure is right at 45 with the vacuum line off and the injectors are definitely bigger, it should be rich.

When are you lean? Idle? Cruise? Under boost?

Yeah that is why I am confused. At idle,
I didn't want to drive it since it was running so lean. Like its misfiring.

I will have to do a complete recheck.

Yea, smart not to drive it. Gotta sort out the lean issue first.

I would go back and just verify fuel pressure for sure.
Did you get the injectors new? If not, its probably worth a clean and flow test to verify they are 100%.

Turns out of the new FIC injectors was not working.
Moved it from cylinder 3 to 4 and the misfire moved as well.

Put back the OEM injectors and there is no misfire

That will do it. FIC is solid and should take care of you.
