I would kill for a 9 RS, unfortunately in my state (CT) by 06 we had very few Mitsu dealers and a family friend who was a auto group GM inc subaru and mitsu dealers told me (he is a big enthusiast himself) he doesn't think CT got a single 9 RS

I have a stock '05 8 RS, outside of JDM headlights/taillights, a wing, and BBS MR wheels. Still have all the original pieces (lights, enkei wheels, and RS trunk) to return it back if I desire. I have seen one other red 9 RS that was mostly stock and the owner was planning to give it to his son someday. I think the people who have them don't part with them much, and it doesn't help they made so few.

Under 30k, I don’t drive it too often. Probably keep it for as long as I can - it’s special to drive.

Funny to run across this. We have a bone stock 05 RS that has been my wife's car for close to 20 years. Never modified, never on a track. Most of its life it's had car seats in the back--which has drawn some great reactions over the years from people who understand what the car is. It's in pretty rough cosmetic shape, as the original clear coat is peeling off and we mostly use it to transport our golden retriever to doggy day care now. We've been trying to decide what to do with it. My wife has moved on to a Tesla and I've got an Evora now, and tragically our teenage son isn't a car guy and doesn't want a stick shift. We've joked about holding an essay contest or something to give it to some deserving young enthusiast.

It doesn't sound like you need to get rid of it immediately, so your best bet is likely to put it on bringatrailer.com (ideal) or carsandbids.com these days. You'll get a better price for it, the buyers on those sites will enjoy the story, and you'll have it sort of cemented in digital history that way as well.

Actually , cars that aren't Ultra low mile or perfect showroom quality examples tend to not perform very well on those websites sometimes even often selling below wholesale prices. I have a friend who sold his STI there a few months back that he bought new and he got about $5k under wholesale pricing.

I love the story and have been looking for a stock RS for 12 years that hasn't been modified, tracked, etc. I would be willing to buy it from the owners , document the restoration process, and sign a first right to refusal for them if for some reason a decade down the line I ever decided to sell it they would have the first rights to buy it back.

You haven't looked very hard. I've seen many low mile RS's available for sale the last 12 years. This car would have no problem selling on BaT or C&B. And if the owners were worried about it, they can put a reserve on it!

The fact you say you love the story and you're saying this on a dead forum should give the owners confidence that there's plenty of people who are enthusiasts who would love the story and thus want the car also. People love cars with a good story and that's part of the reason BaT became so successful. If you really believe that it wouldn't sell for much on either site, then maybe let them post up and you can be the high bidder and win anyway. Wouldn't that be to your advantage if you actually believe that? Unless of course you're wanting to get this for under market value now... And IMO it would go for more than market value with all other variables the same, based on story alone.

Here's an example of a car with a story being more valuable, and this although 7 years old, is a prime example of a story car and the comments are worth reading. Again, 7 years ago, but this sold for more than any other that year, and it was unrestored. It also sold for more than any comparable car until at least 2020. https://bringatrailer.com/listing/19...et-corvette-6/ ***Shared all this mostly for ScottB and his wife's benefit.***

Now I see who you are. Now it all makes sense.

https://enthusiastautobuyers.com EDIT since he nuked this page: https://web.archive.org/web/20241127...utobuyers.com/

https://cruzm15.sg-host.com/gallery/

https://bringatrailer.com/member/youngtimerclassics/

And a quote from one of your comments: "...I've owned tons of Stis evos..."

I sincerely hope that ScottB and his wife don't let themselves get taken advantage of. They're better off selling it themselves on BaT or C&B as I was saying

EDIT: Since I edited this to add the archive of the website he quickly nuked, it's also worth noting that he has 5 or so WTB threads for Evo 8's and 9's here on EvoM, obviously looking for cream of the crop stuff to resell.

Nobody is getting taken advantage of. A few quick facts here

1 - Enthusiast Auto Buyers was a website I had the designer Wcruze make as a sample. That website / name is defunct

2 - The second website was also a sample , My business is primarily 80s 90s VW & German brands. That's what I work on and restore for a living. Notice how the link you posted doesn't have a real URL/Website name? Keep digging.

3 - My BaT account shows 18 cars I've sold - 10 of which where PERSONAL cars I owned - I'm an enthusiast and work on Sciroccos mk1/mk2s and 80s 90s VW Audi products for a living. You can take a look at one of the GTIs I restored amongst other VWs on my BaT account. Clearly you're just sour and have nothing better to do

Instead of spending your time digging around some else's business (unemployed?) make the owners an offer if they come back to the website. I can promise it won't be more than mine.

BTW plenty of people who own Evos who own businesses whether dealerships shops etc.
